I don't know why people say things like they can't afford LV so they buy Coach

My feelings about such statements are mixed. For one I wanted a LV when I was younger but when I went to the LV store I was told they were not entirely made of leather, the salesgirl described it as "PVC material" and I was just completely turned off. I am a lover of all things leather.

The other point I need to make is that I do not feel like I can afford LV either. If I get the bag I am going to get the wallet and if I get the wallet I am going to get a bag charm and after a while its like "I don't know why she swallowed the fly!" if you know what I mean. I just don't love it enough to invest that much money into such a collection. None of their bags are worth me saving for and I don't do pre-owned anything other than furniture.

At the end of the day I buy Coach because I love it and their customer service is world class.

You dont need to swallow the lv fly. I love my lv and i saved and planned and bought and i use them with pride and care daily and it sparks joy in my heart( konmari ref) I dont have everything but what i do have is top quality and lasts- no more settling for cheap crap ( not saying coach) - quality over quantity saves money and sanity. Bag charms maybe one day- tapage maybe. If you are comfortable great - its good to know yourself:)

If the sa said that they are pvc -they are ignorant of lv history and makeage- such a shame such sas dont know their own products properly!

Come to think of it it she was pretty crummy at her job. She seemed disinterested and like she didn't even think the bags were worth it but I really couldn't argue with her. The store was empty and she was a returning a bag to the display case so it wasn't like she was super busy. I worked retail as my first job and there was just no way I would put my money at the time into people that had these types of SA's. You're right it is a shame. I also took that experience into consideration when I learned of some people whose LV bags became damaged- I just wouldn't want to deal with that type of attitude while trying to get my bag fixed either.

Sorry for the double posts earlier in this thread. Not sure how that happened.

They aren't all PVC. They do make leather ones (mine shown above called vernis leather, but it just means their own kind of patent leather). They also have epi leather, which I think is like saffiano leather, and other types of leather (I'm not an LV expert).
If you haven't tried before, you may be surprised how easily pre- loved bags can be thoroughly cleaned. I cleaned mine with tips from the Coach rehab & rescue thread, and LV has their own rehab threads. But pre- loved is definitely a personal decision. :smile1:

I really love your bag :smile1: it is unique. At the time I was interested in the Damier Speedy. I appreciate the info about the epi leather.

I love accepting clothes from my sisters and our friends. We are constantly recycling clothes, shoes and bags with each other so it very well could be that I just don't know how to go consignment shopping. I know some people who have incredible luck with it. Kinda like how I am an epic fail at a thrift shop but do well at yard sales where I always find cool furniture.

I'm thinking of trying an estate sale one day. I have heard of people getting furs and shoes but have no idea if I can uncover anything like a purse.

I love both Coach and LV from different perspectives. LV has very good quality. It's very durable yet classy and lightweight. The monogram and damier styles that I personally like are timeless. I only have a few pieces but I know I'll rock them til I'm old. I love Coach as much as I love my LV, believe it or not. I love Coach's classic styles. I used to have the trendy ones and got rid of them. Coach caters to whatever age. I love Coach's leather specifically. You really get your money's worth. But when my shoulder's need a break from the weight of leather, I switch to my LV canvas. I have Coach's gathered twist leather which looks so much like Prada/ MiuMiu and I know I'm never gonna sell that handbag. My Coach Candaces, Borough, and Willises are personally my style so they will never be sold as well just like my LVs :) Cheers!

So is that like the people who buy LV can't afford Chanel and the people who buy Chanel can't afford Hermes? Don't people just buy what they like? I know I do and in all reality, that is ALL that matters!

So funny! I love both brands! LV makes a beautiful bag but so does Coach.....but I don't always feel like dropping $1300 on a bag, kwim?

See any similarities here? I just bought this gorgeous Coach Celeste Hobo at the Outlet sale for $99. It has gorgeous coated canvas and a shoulder strap that LV doesn't include on the Delightful....that's a shame because it makes the bag that much more functional.

Same silhouette, much different price. But I can assure you that the Coach quality is amazing! Shiny hardware, leather straps, etc. It's a super comfortable bag to carry and I didn't need to spend $1300 for it because Coach has a comparable product in the same style......win/win!

BTW, I do own both brands but in different styles:smile1:

I dare say I like the Coach version better; I feel the mix of black and brown is more versatile (as opposed to medium and darker brown), and I like the fun tassel. Good find! :smile1:
