I Can't Believe This More Mismatched Hardware

Careful with the ketchup. While it does work, it's hard to get it completely rinsed out of the lock's inside mechanism. I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed and thought I had finally gotten it out of all of the nooks & crannies. Dried it really well and let it air dry overnight. Attached it back to my speedy and a few days later noticed a tiny remaining dried ketchup had oozed out and left a mark on my vachetta (where I had hung the lock from the handle hardware). I wouldn't recommend it. At all.

I called LV and they checked a store, it seems all of the neverfuls are made with the mismatched hardware. I would rather have hardware that matches, but I guess I will keep it. Since they are all made that way, there is no other choice if I want a neo neverful at this time.

collector007, I think with Neverfull you're Ok, it's not that much noticeable. I know you'd rather not have this mismatch to begin with, but I feel like it's not that bad on the neverfull. It's acceptable, especially now that we know they're all like that.
However, with your pochette metis, my honest advice is, do exchange it for another one or it might always bother you. So sorry this happened to you. I can imagine how disappointing it is. Hugs.

That would be my fear too, the nooks & crannies. Thank you, gabsandme. I think we might be safer with Brasso.

Why does Louis market it as "shiny golden brass hardware"? This is taken directly off their website verbatim. :shucks:
This is a great question, maybe it should say "brass colored" hardware. If only a portion of the hardware is true brass then perhaps legally they can get away with saying "shiny golden brass hardware".
I'd love to know the answer to this as well.

Here is a picture of my Speedy 35 B. The lock and clip are an orange gold and the zipper pull and hook are yellow gold. I noticed it immediately when she came in the mail. I was more excited to have her made in France (same color difference with MIU) so I got used to the different color golds now but I am not crazy about it to tell you the truth. We spend so much on bags so they really should match.

Polishing your lock using ketchup will return it to it's original shine... It's strange but it works... hope this helps :flowers:
Who told you ketchup works? I would never use that! Why not mustard or mayo, a closer color to the vachetta? I took my lock into the boutique and they cleaned the hardware for free in 15 minutes and it looks brand new. I asked her what she used and they said to ONLY to use a soft fine jewelry cloth. Good luck with ketchup because if you get that into the key hole that will not be good.

That one looks more off then the other ones I've seen... Is it too late to exchange?

Many users on TPF have used ketchup with success, including myself. That being said, you do have to be very careful and apply it delicately using something such as a toothpick or cotton swab.

Wow, I never thought that would work! Since LV is so expensive, I will stick with what they told me at LV which using is a soft fine jewelry cloth. When I asked about a special brass cleaner they told me nothing liquid. I just wouldn't want to risk anything dripping on my bags whether it's ketchup, brass cleaners or anything else.

I admit I'm a sheep and tried it a few years back. See my earlier post on this thread; NOT a good idea. I think ketchup works because of its acidity. I'll refer you to my previous post to see why I don't recommend it :(
