I am... Materialistic!?!

I've always felt that those people who often judge others based on what what they wear, buy, or carry generally don't deserve any type of response. Of course I'd love to smack them upside the head for being so classless, but I'm not the type of person to call others out for being rude.

I just think of it this way: I work hard for my money and everyone likes to spend their hard-earned dollars differently; I just chose to spend it on bags and wallets. It doesn't make me any worse than the person that smokes two packs a day, takes vacations three times a year, owns luxury cars, and has a mansion. It's like, I'll worry about my own life, you worry about your own ;)

I think if you buy a item that can last over 25 years of wear and enjoyment you are getting your money's worth. I have had bags over 25 years old still in excellent condition. I rather have 2-3 great bags that will
Last for years then buy cheap bags that fall apart or look dirty. Nothing against Coach bags, but my friend buys 2-4 a year for over $300.00 each and they always end up trashed. I have no idea of what she does to them. She keeps complaining she wants a Speedy but would never spend the money and I think you spend double it each year on bags.
I don' listen if others try to judge me, that is their problem and not mine.

Designer handbags are almost every woman desire. Maybe she's just jealous you have a fabulous designer handbags so she called you materialistic. sometimes i am thinking that i am over-spend but i work hard and earn money, and if i could afford it, why not? Its a reward for myself :)

+ 1000 times

Slogging hard at work to earn a living.. And how we chose to spend our money is seriously none of others' business!

I carry branded handbags all the time and although ppl generally wun come up to me and say I am materialistic but that doesn't mean they dun tink so....
Anyway money is mine, how I wanna spend is my decision, my choice :D

This is some great stuff to remember and live by
Hi pfjlvoer, I agree, it’s so easy to get wrapped up in “researching” bags and shoes, or shopping, or posting on forums so much :shame: that we forget those other areas in our lives that need improvement and growth.
I keep reminding myself and trying… thank you for your post :flowers:

The hubs teases me about being materialistic all the time. But I always think there's a little bit of truth behind any comment even if someone adds "just kidding" afterwards! I choose to ignore it.

Omg. Have you guys ever been called materialistic by anyone before? I went out with my sister to eat dinner today and during the entire time, she was eyeing me because I was wearing my LV's and Hermes'; which I probably regret doing. Then she called me materialistic as if she has a right in where I spend my money! She doesn't have many designer brands but mainly because she doesn't work. I can say, without doubt, I work my *** off and work really hard. I juggle between school, work, and more school, and have minimal sleep. Unlike her, I don't go out with friends at all during the school semester because I have so much on my plate, which I am still able to manage.

Nevertheless, I was so furious and upset about her comment, it made me re-evaluate and think about what I'm doing. Am I justifying what I am buying, or am I really materialistic? What do you guys think? Have you ever been called materialistic? Ever questioned yourself if you over-spend?

I have never been called "materialistic" but I am sure behind my back I have :D

I am somewhat materialistic but I've loved handbags for many years, pretty much since childhood, and feel that I've gotten to a point in my life that I have a really good job that I work hard at and can afford my LV bags. So it's my choice. Anyone can say whatever they want about my bags!
