I agree with everyone's post with one addition....Buy what you want because YOLO just don't go into debt over items we don't "need". Personally, 97% of the crap I buy is a want. :-D

Hi pfjlvoer, I agree, it’s so easy to get wrapped up in “researching” bags and shoes, or shopping, or posting on forums so much :shame: that we forget those other areas in our lives that need improvement and growth.
I keep reminding myself and trying… thank you for your post :flowers:

This is why this was so great to come across. Sometimes we just gotta be reminded! Almost like 'Stop! Smell the Roses!!!' :D

Everybody has their own way of rewarding themselves for working hard... Other people spend on dining out, travel etc... And yours is buying designer bags. Dont worry about what others say. You deserve it. Its your money. Its your life and its your happiness :)

First, I'm sorry your sister said something so mean and hurtful. I think she was trying to make herself feel better by taking away your pleasure in owning something you worked hard for and take pride in.

Second, she called you materialistic and then asked your parents to get her one?! Did I get this right? If so LMFAO!

Awww, don't feel too offended. I don't see being materialistic as being an insult. I like to have nice things, I see nothing wring with that! Don't let her make u think something's wrong. U work hard u shld enjoy the fruit of ur labors!!!

I admit I am materialistic, and I am also often judgmental. But I am never cheap.
I love brand names, and look down on people who don't work hard to get what they want. So call me those names, I don't care, cause I still have more than what they have.

Yeah, she did. She asked our parents to get her one because she doesn't work/earn money but want an LV. I'm assuming she wants one because she sees me with one? I mean, I can justify myself buying these things because I go to school + work on weekends to afford these things. But on the otherhand, she doesn't.

We all here are materialistic except some of us are not obsessed with luxury 24 hours all day long. We luv it, we buy it and we use it. For the rest of the days or hours, we don't think about luxury items all the item. Only once in a while when the crave starts.

Then, you have those who are materialistic enough and don't mind becoming high end social escorts or willing to do whatever it takes to get married to a rich tycoon.

Hence, materialistic itself has many characters.

I'm sure I'd be deemed as materialistic by those who don't get it but these people only look upon first impression and they never realize the stories behind them.

Plus, there's a fine line between obsessing with any forms of luxuries (as long as it's a luxury item) and buying only brands/labels that entice you which therefore, makes you a collector, eg. LV collector.
