How/where do you report website/shops/sellers of fakes/counterfeits?

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

Don't be too hard on yourself it happens to all of us. There have been several threads devoted to this topic and there is no real agreement except most feel it should be tossed and not re donated. Not sure about how to authenticate the clothing.

Thanks for getting back to me Gail. I'm sure it has been hashed over a few times! I think I would just feel I hadn't wasted my money if it could go to something good like helping the designers know the copies that are out there. Throwing it in the bin just seems painful. Maybe I could make coasters out of the leather since it's actually good quality (I know a lot of fakes are terrible or not even real leather).

Anyhow this place is great because it really does provide a great service for buyers and newbs and also helps curb the fakes. Will keep looking to see if I can find something to do with the mens mulberry suit. Thanks again.

P.s I was wondering if theres anything that can be done about charity shops selling fakes? I have seen so so many fake designer goods in charity shop windows.

Hi guys,
So is anyone here from China at all? Anyway, I know a person who is selling luxury stuffs online and I'm guessing from looking at her pictures that those stuffs are real?!?! I'm not quite sure. However, the price of the stuffs that she's selling is ridiculous. For example, she's selling the Givenchy Black Rottweiler Small Antigona Tote for ~$707 while the regular price of the bag is $995. Some stuffs that she's selling is even 40-50% cheaper than the regular price. People said that she could get that price because she's a VIP member of the mall or something likes that, so she could get stuffs incredibly cheap. However, do you guys think that it's even possible? As a sale person, I suppose that she should be able to get some profit from selling those. And btw, all of her stuffs are not the out-of-season ones, they're the new styles. I noticed that she gets most of her stuffs from Europe, but anyway, what do you guys think? I could get some more information or even pictures of the stuffs and post them here.

Hi, the best is to ask in the designer forum, for example the Givenchy forum: http://forum.purseblog.com/givenchy/

There's an authentication thread in each forum and posting detailed pics could say if the bag is ok.

Good luck.

Hi ladies I was hoping someone can help me. I got scammed by a girl interstate. I paid through PayPal and filed a dispute thinking I'm protected but PayPal dismissed my case because they said the website I bought it from was not covered in their buyer protection policy. I was disappointed because I thought PayPal was one of the most secure ways to go if u want to purchased something online especially sometching expensive!

When I received the bag, I knew it wasn't right. After inspection with other chanel boys and other Chanel bags in general. the chanel boy bag I bought was clearly a fake. She said it's authentic and comes with original dust bag box and packaging as well as the authenticity card. She basically won't give me a refund saying it was my fault that I bought it. She also said she sells a lot of bags and she is a genuine seller because at the time of sale and throughout her whole life she thought the bag I bought was authentic. So it was a "shock" to her that it was fake.

Yes the serial number on the authenticity card matched the bag serial number but it was a fake card. I bought previous authentic chanels before and I compared my friends authentic cards too. The sellers card Was the wrong font and colour. She went so far to make it believable to me that she created an invoice saying it was from a chanel store. She tried to copy the format but obviously could not find the right font and colour. She only bothered creating one side of the invoice so the back of the invoice was blank instead of having all the terms of sale. Of course all this was only revealed to me when I had paid and when I received the bag as it was not clear just by photos. I am so disappointed because u can imagine I paid few thousands for it.

Gosh I feel so stupid and I hope to make this a warning to online buyers out there like me. You really never know until you have fallen into a trap.

I wish to take it up to the police but the sad thing is I only have the bag and proof that it's fake. I am not even sure if I can find her real identity. I don't know the name and contact details she gave me was even real. Please if anyone knows what to do or been through this situation. Please help me. Feel free to direct message me too, I really appreciate your time. Thank you

I would still take it up with your credit card company. You may have to dispute the Paypal charge since Paypal won't help. It will certainly get their attention.

I would continue the fight to get your money back. I have always paid with PayPal when available and have has to dispute 2 purchases. I have been issued refunds both times. I'm not sure why they are not assisting you with this. The person who is selling these fake bags needs to be held accountable, especially when presenting them as authentic.
Good luck to you. Keep us posted on your outcome.

I thought that Paypal didn't just take care of the buyer for certain sites, but for all sites. Are you telephoning them? I would telephone and straight off ask for a supervisor. When I got that person I would ask for their supervisor (at least that is what I have done in similar situations). Paypal is normally very good about taking care of such things.

Don't give up!

Hi All,
I've searched the forum to find an appropriate thread and hope this may be one where somebody can provide input.

I recently purchased a Celine Trapeze on BeyondtheRack.com --- it was clearly a fake (albeit, one of the better ones I've seen) and I contacted BTR who responded by stating they only sell authentic items.

At that point, I contacted my credit company (Bank of America) to open a claim as I was sold a counterfeit bag. I have since also obtained a statement (via ******************) who has deemed the item to be a replica and then outlines the reasons and includes photos. Bank of America has stated that in addition to this, I am required to submit some type of letter (similar to the one I purchased from ******************) but that the statement cannot be based on photographs. They suggested I go to a local boutique or dept store to get the statement after they physically review my bag. I do not have a Celine Boutique in my local market nor will any SAs at the dept stores I frequent provide this type of statement.

Has anybody had experience in this type of matter? Any specific experience with Beyond the Rack? They have refused to issue a refund despite the documentation provided.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I'm sorry about this. Perhaps a police report would be ok as a second letter? I don't have experience of this though, it's just a thought.
