How To work for Louis Vuitton...

Well, the only reason an average TPF'er would have more knowledge about LV is because we are obsessed with the bags! I think when people get a job at LV, sometimes thats what it just is... a job. I mean, they aren't getting paid to hold all the information of LV in their heads, they're getting paid to make people who are HUGE FANS like us be happy and come back.

That's what I wanted to do! My bf even cut out the job ad for me. But I realised that I have to keep my current job to fund my passion. I don't think I can continue this madness being an SA.

dannyspice101, good luck then....

age matters unfortunately, people in their mid 20s and older are seen as more mature and also have experience from other luxury brands. most of the staff at LV are well educated (even the SA's), with banking, accounting, teaching background
the salary is not that great, bit better than high street store salaries, other luxury brands like cartier pay more + commission

customers can be very difficult and demanding or you can end up in the 'repairs' department, and that sucks
discount is %30 on permanent lines, with seasonal stuff staff has to wait 6 months to purchase
staff sales are once a year (depends on country) and ist's usually shoes/RTW
(not that excitting and still very expensive) and it's about %75 off, but no leather goods...

time to time there is shop soiled goods staff sale, which is a 'lottery' style, so you hardly ever get what you want and there are limits on what you can request, so sometimes you end up with nothing and than you have years untill the next sale comes around

still interested?

I used to want to work at LV, but not since I read on here that SAs can't buy limited-edition bags. Imagine that! I wouldn't mind working as an in-house lawyer (don't think they have any though, in Oz anyway), marketing manager or HR manager though :p Anyway with the $3k limit, you couldn't even get a Le Fab with the discount!

I agree...I worked retail for several years (in college and also as a second job) and I don't think it really matters what store or setting its in...it adds up to this: retail jobs are not a whole lot more than minimum wage. Management make a bit more and you can advance that way, but being an SA is not a glamourous job. If anyone knows different, let me know. :smile1:

I do agree with you, some of them get treated badly by some customers who think they are all that... and just take it in stride.. When I was at the LV store last sunday, someone walked in and started talking to my SA - who was busy with me by the way, really loud and almost yelling and saying "you're supposed to call me when the griet came in and I now the price went up!" She never said Hi or excuse me or anything, my SA looked at me and apologized and talk to her for a sec, then she looked at me again and said "I have no idea who this person is?" She asked another SA to help this person and she was loudly mentioning the $$ as if to say she was there to buy a pricey bag and that she should get the help first! My SA really handled herself in that situation. I've heard horror stories about SA treating buyers bad but I think some of them are treated disrestpectfully aswell... I would totally flip out if someone treats me that way, minimum wage or not - they have to be treated with respect as well.

^^ awww she accused you of being incompetent?? Wow, what class from her part. I would love to work for LV, I would be getting paid to touch bags all day =)
