Hi again, sorry to pester you, but is that a flat pillow underneath the bag where the strap is? I want to do EXACTLY what you are doing! thanks again for your wonderful post!!:heart:
Hello! Ask and you shall receive. I fear, however, that this post may reveal that I am NUTS when it comes to my Bs. But hey, arent’t we all a little cray cray?? Anywhoo, here is a step-by-step of what I do. Yes, I know this is cray, but ya. Here you go - sorry for the long post.
Step 1: Materials Needed (Birkin, felt, dust bag, pillow insert, towel, airbag - or 2 airbags and skip the towel). IMG_0717.jpg
Step 2: insert bag pillow IMG_0716.jpg
Step 3: dress with felt protector (you can omit this step - I actually have no idea why I do it now that I think about it) IMG_0715.jpg
Step 4: put in dust bag IMG_0714.jpg
Step 5: lay on back and insert rolled towel or air pillow to support top of bag and handles.
At this point I generally pull the shangles so my bag doesnt have bat wings, but leave them loose across the front IMG_0710.jpg
Step 6: add air bag at end of handles for support (may or may not need this depending on whether your handles are elevated above surface or not) IMG_0709.jpg
The gray pillow you saw in my first post is a memory foam pillow that I bought on amazon. It fit perfectly in my cabinet that I use for my B30. My B35s now live in a closet. I ordered a piece of memory foam for the size of the shelf and they sleep on that. IMG_0718.jpgIMG_0719.jpg
Good luck!

Thank you so so much @TeeCee77 !
I cannot tell you enough how much I appreciate your taking the time to take the photos and describe the process. I would love for my bags to remain in the best shape possible, so I am thankful for your thorough description.

Thank you for the kind words. I know it’s a little over the top, but I almost passed on my HG because of slouch and I was able to 100% correct it by storing it this way. If I help even one person, it was worth it! And don’t mistake, I use one of my bags every day. I use them and love them dearly. But, if I can aid in them lasting as long as possible in the best of shape, what is an extra 2 min to put them away! [emoji172]

@TeeCee77, you are a star!
Can you provide a link for the piece of memory foam that you lay on the shelf. Thank you!

Here is the link for the memory foam pillow. Unfortunately says unavailable ☹️ I honestly just searched amazon for memory foam seat cushions to find this. I’m sure any kind would work - this one just happened to be the perfect measurements. You can also search and find places that do custom memory foam. I ordered a piece that is the exact dimensions of my closet shelf for my B35s.

TeeCee77, thank you so much for taking the time to share your storage strategy and materials- I ordered the Baghunter pillows after seeing your post. While the shipping was a bit on the high side, they shipped immediately: I ordered on Saturday and the package arrived on Monday! I love your memory foam idea as well, so thank you for posting the links :)

You’re welcome. The shipping on those BH pillows is borderline insane, BUT they have worked the best of anything I have tried. Sigh. Good luck!!

I have read through many threads on maintaining birkin shape and storage. I have a good before and after from a while back that I wanted to share that shows how good storage really can help maintain shape! I store my bags stuffed with a triangle shaped pillow, on their backs, on a shelf with memory foam, straps loose. First picture is store fresh (a little slouchy). Second picture is 3 weeks in storage without use. This is just my way of doing it, but happy so far!
