I got my first Hermes scarf in my 30 something in a flight from the duty free trolley cos it was a lot cheaper (£100 I think) than the boutique less vat and an additional 10% discount for airline staff. I forgot which one I got as there were not many to choose from so I exchanged it upon arrival in UK for a pink CW of the Brides de Gala.

Incredibly I didn't discover Hermes scarves until I was 61. After a throat surgery the doctor advised wearing a scarf over the scars to block out the sun for several months. So I started a scarf collection and stumbled into the world's most beautiful silk. I have only a few. The first was a vintage Giverny selected because I'm a gardener and Monet's garden is my idea of heaven and everything I aspire to as a gardener. I bought it from a Canadian seller at the start of the pandemic and because everything was in lockdown it was stuck in transit for months and I was sad and frantic, but it eventually appeared in my mailbox (whew!).

I was just this week thinking Hermes scarves should be prescribed for their overall uplifting qualities - both mental and physical, so hope you enjoy your scarves with many more to come! It seems from this thread that we all remember vividly our first scarf (love!)

Much too late for me!
I have been wearing scarves since my early 20s, but not Hermes :)
First H scarf, my still beloved Caraibes in red and blue, caught me captive at 42. It cheered and inspired me through over a decade of life turbulence. Now, in my fifties I am re-discovering and enjoying H scarves world.

26! I'm 38 this month. And I have struggled with them from day 1! My current style waffles day to day between (literally) Yohji Yamamoto Homme (so, masculine/goth) and Elton John (bold and bright suits) and my appearance is fairly loud on its own, so scarves just always feel like a touch too much. They are also tricky with my face shape/hair; having that kind of bulk around my neck and the way it frames me looks strange. I've bought a few new ones lately to try and make them work anew, but...STILL STRUGGLING hah
