How Many Coats Do You Own?

I suppose that may differ person to person. I, for example, do not consider leather jackets to be "coats" because I live in a cold climate. Leathers are generally for fall and not winter here. However, in a different climate, leather might well be all someone needed as a coat because the temperatures didn't go low enough to warrent much else.

For me, I mostly consider wool and wool/cashmere to be coats, and most of mine are walker length or full length. Although I don't wear them, I'd also consider down jackets or coats to qualify as "coats". Lighter weight trenches also do not count for me, as they are primarily fall or spring wear. I do not double-up on layers and put one layer of outerwear (like a trench or quilted jacket) under another (like a wool or cashmere). But I am also not walking outdoors a lot, so a wool coat is mostly fine by itself for me.

But again, this may be completely different from what someone else thinks. I have about 12 or 14 winter "coats", and that doesn't count trenches, leathers or other lighter weight jackets.

Yes, that is how my mother taught me to categorize coats as. I find wool/cashmere coats supply plenty of warmth but then again, I usually only wear them to a building and into a taxi. I might trow in a one-block walk, maybe.

Wool/Cashmere coats:
White Maxmara peacoat
Marella Wool coat
Dark Brown chocolate Flippa K coat
Navy Blue Zara peacoat (not sure if it's considered a coat since it has about 0% cashmere/wool/marina)+its my favorite jacket to wear
Light brown Maxmara cape coat

I also have a barbour jacket, burberry quilts & trenches, TNF Venture, Canada goose parka and a peacoat from old navy made out some kind of polyester that I wear regularly. Then I have leather jackets & blazers, but I see those as part of the sweater section.

I consider my coat collection to be quite substantial as I'm a teenager in high school who doesn't go to enough events where it would be appropriate to be wearing a coat without worrying about a friend vomiting on it.

I'm currently on the market for a toggle closures but I haven't found one that is made out of wool/cashmere and is at a good length.

thats what I mean! You can only really use so many..After a few years they need to go... charity store or whatever. I like to think they find a new wardrobe and an exciting new life where they are loved...:smooch:

I have recently had a clear out of my coats and jackets so at the moment I own one jacket which is a Barbour International Quilted Jacket (buying another one soon as they are great quality)

On my wish list
Burberry trench coat for the predictable British weather
Knee length wool jacket (for smart days)

Burberry trench
Moncler Moka Puffer
Moncler NIM coat
Uniqlo +J Pea coat
Uniqlo +J Couble Breasted Jacket made of wool & cashmere
2 Zara Camel Coats from last year winter-must-buy!
1 Zara black coat
1 Fox Fur

Just a few...

-vintage red peacoat that my mom found at a Salvation Army in the 80s (so it's probably early 70s, judging from that and the styling)...a little big, but so warm and I get compliments on it all the time
-True Religion black leather trench...which I hardly ever wear out of fear of messing it up
-Juicy hooded parka
-a random turquoise waist-length jacket I wear in spring and fall
-Juicy velvet blazer for super-fancy occasions

I have
2 black Peacoats from my NAVY days(very heavy and warm)
1 northface parka (knee length) very warm and it has a lifetime warranty.
1 ankle length parka from diesel I've had it for several years now.
1 black wool coat from jcrew( on it's way )
5 coats total.

I have several leather jackets, denim, but I count these as fall/spring outerwear.

I probably have around a dozen real coats. And then a bunch of lighter weight jackets.

I'm being dead serious. I went out one night and I came back with a miu miu coat beyond repair. I didn't even bother trying to see if the dry-cleaners could get out whatever was in there. I learned my lesson the hard way.

Now that I look at the list, I think I might be missing some but I've totally forgotten about them. Coats are so much harder to wear than regular jackets, imho.
