How long did first wish list item take?

Do you have to be asked to start a wishlist or can you just tell them you'd like to start a wishlist?
The term “wishlist” among the forum here is mostly just a concept meaning ‘items you’ve communicated with your SA that you would be interested in purchasing’ more so than an actual physical list taken by the SA. Some stores will actually note a list on your client profile but more often (at least in the USA) it’s just a general communication. The best protocol is just to have a natural conversation with your SA whilst shopping for other things “oh I love that Navy Bleu evelyne! I’d really like to get a navy blue K28 some day.” and then follow his or her lead.

I started a relationship with H last Feb, one year ago. I bought a fragrance and a SLG. Due to health issues I disappeared for 1 year but I was happy to see that my SA recognized me and remembered my name after 1 year. So this year I started with fine jewelry, fragrance and a clic clac. I stop by maybe once a week to chat and she is very receptive. I asked for a mini Lindy and all she says is that the mini is very popular..... seems like she is making me lose hope. If I can’t even get a mini lindy how the heck will I get a Kelly? Darn. All the fine jewelry I wanted had to be shipped from another store and it has been a hassle but she has fought for me so I could get those items. I am trying to read her behavior..... is this waiting normal? Goodness :whut:

Yes, waiting is normal. I asked for a mini Lindy too and I've been told it's very rare.

Yeah .... Hermès is a very strange company to do business with. I am very puzzled by the way they do things. I waited 2 weeks for a manager to ship a bracelet from NY to CA. Now, I have been waiting another week for another bracelet. They don’t seem to have any urgency with anything.... it’s weird.

It's all very confusing. I mean, I did tell my SA that I wasn't in a huge rush to have the mini Lindy, which is not a cheap bag, and I'm clear with her when I really want something. Best thing to do for wishlist items, especially B/K/C, is to keep pressing on for them.

Yeah .... thank you and in the meantime I have added them as an authorized user to my credit card ..... lol:facepalm:

As mentioned it also depends on where you live.I live in Dubai and i’ve been a loyal H client for years but I never got offered a b/k/c. I’ve made multiple bag and wallet purchases. I also changed my SA multiple times due to them leaving or me not liking them. Fast forward i met this SA and she was lovey. She was very straight forward and said i can’t offer you anything unless you spend 13000$ on anything besides bags. Call me crazy, but i bought dinnerware & she right away offered me a bag. She came back with exactly what i wanted. Hermés is very popular among the locals so they do this for other bags that are in high demand like the picotin and mini lindy. My sister went in for a mini lindy and she was required spend around 4k$ on other items before she was able to walk out with a bag. They do carry most of the bags but there is a minimum amount you have to spend beforehand.

It’s good that the SA set things straight with you in the beginning. Then you don’t need to play their games anymore.

Is a waiting list the same? My store said they just opened their waiting list. I’m wondering if I should take the opportunity. I wasn’t planning to make a big K or B purchase anytime soon though. I was planning for my big 50 in 10 years. Lol. But thinking by then prices will be crazy and I might as well enjoy the bag for some extra years. What would you do?

Doesn’t hurt to get on the wait list. You’re not obligated to buy anything when you get the call and get offered a bag. But the timing and the bag may work for you when you do get the call.

Can anyone get on the waitlist or is it existing clients only?
I think the policy is store specific. To the best of my knowledge my home store doesn’t have a wait list but other members have mentioned wait lists at their home stores. The thread on the new store opening in Warsaw mentioned a wait list with no prior spend necessary. But that was a brand new store so there would have been no prior client history to consider in the early days of that store.

The waitlist in Warsaw is tricky. It exits but haven't heard yet from the friends who are on it so possibly a "decoy" to encourage a good relationship.
I spent there 1:1 within the first month since opening and Kelly 28 materialised 2-3 days after a major purchase so visibly the game is already there.
I was put on some sort of wish list in London after buying a CDC (as a new customer) but again approached 1:1 spend to actually get the bag.

That’s interesting. I have managed to get on the waiting list in my store in London, but I am just wondering if it makes a true difference when it comes to securing a bag, hence my question. Thanks for your reply though!

As mentioned above, I got on the wish list in London pretty casually and when bought items like 2 wallets, a bag and something small, Kelly 32 of my choice materialised fairly quickly.

That sounds promising. I guess my issue is that I am not currently working with a specific SA and I don’t have time in the week to regularly go in so it is tricky to keep track of any progress.
