Before I found this thread I called a store to ask for the pigalle and I called it "pee - jah - lee" the SA had no idea what I was asking for and kept saying to repeat it. Finally he was like just spell it - so I felt like a dumbass when he was like oh u mean "pig-elle" in my head I'm thinking that sounds awful, I like my original interpertation better! Lol. I've heard SA's say bot pig-el with an "e" and pig-all with an "a"

hmm wonder if that is good or bad? some of those metro recordings sound pretty dull :shame:

No, it's good leda! I have such fond memories of being in Paris. Besides, I liked listening to the metro recordings to let me know how the words were pronounced and what stop we were at. My personal favorite is George V. My friend called it "George V" as in the letter V!

I pronounce it Loo-bit-on. But I have an english accent so it's bound to sound strange. I think it sounds alright though, I suppose everyone has a different way of saying it.

thanks leda your lessons were totally awesome! it's so frustrating talking to SA's who can't pronounce the names right. one time at nordstrom i asked the SA if they carried christian louboutin, and he's like "louis vuitton?" and i said "no, kris-chi-AHN LOO-BOO-TA(n)" and he's like "OHHHHHHH christian la-boo-nnn!!!!" :roflmfao: teehee!

i had sex and the city on in the background the other day - cant remember what episode but carrie mentions CL's but says 'loobooTENS' with emphasis on the 'tens' not sure if this was reference to something else or if she was actually pronouncing it like that.
anyone know what im talking about?
