How do you afford your bags and how many per year? Credit debt or millionare lover?

^^ This. It is distasteful and comes off as very low rent.

honestly from most of the responses on here, I don't think anyone is "braging" about rich SOs/parents, most of the people are just stating that they are support from them. It's not something to be extremely proud about but it's also not something to be ashamed about.

Most of my items I pay with my work $$ but my parents take care of my housing situation and my BF buys me nice things for special occassions. We have a silly "thing" where he's always the one to buy me the first bag for whichever brand I'm obsessing about. He bought me my first Dior, Balenciaga, LV and now Chanel. But of course I always return in kind. I actually haven't bought a new bag this year, besides my Chanel, because I've been busy collection shoes-Louboutins, but I think this fall I will need to get my Chanel fix again hehe. Also I would love to say that I cut back on other aspects of my life to afford designer items but cheaper clothes (like forever 21) and makeup and whatever else just doesn't agree with me. I feel better saving and buying nice things..instead of buying a bunch of cheaply made items

I wholeheartedly agree.

Take this example: I saved years ago (when I was making less money and didn't know better) and paid $99 full price for a Gap dress. One rinse cycle later (it was cotton) it had discolored, shrunk and the threads were coming apart.

Fast-forward to now when I look for sale of high-quality items, I buy an Alice + Olivia dress for $59 on sale, and I've worn this thing to death - but it looks brand new and is so well-made.

Oh, and as for makeup, I've tried the cheaper brands - there really is no comparison.

yup! That's what i notice too..people who shy away from designer items thinking that they're too expensive but then run to Banana Republic or Gap thinking that it's cheaper...when really you can get designer items for cheaper or the same price! I love going to Bloomingdales..that's where I find most of my designer clothing on sale, and they have sales all the time. You just need to know where to look, there's online sites like Gilt/Rue La La and even department stores online site have amazing deals! I got a jeans mini skirt from 7 for all mankind for $30 at Ron Herman's retail website, my friend couldn't believe the price cuz she bought a jean mini skirt at Abercrombie and Fitch for like double the price o_O. Mine still looks brand new, but hers are starting to fray at the bottom.

And shoes too, I mean brands like aldo sometimes charges like $100+ for their shoes. This sale season, I bought 2 pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes for $400 total...it's only around $200 for each pairs! I mean I would rather get 1 pair of CLs on sale than buy 2 pairs of Aldo shoes :/

Oh I know - when people find out how many CLs I bought over the past 9 months, they think I robbed a bank, but really, some of them (the cheapest) were $180 up to $380, but never more.

^^ I find it really depends. My longest-wearing, best looking casual shirts are from, no joke, a grocery store (in Canada, one of the major chains has it's own clothing brand).

I can afford my bags because I work! DH has bought me one Coach, but most bags I buy myself. I never carry a credit card balance. I'm a 24 year old grad student.

I'm 21 years old. I work full time and have a part time job on the side. I have a morgage to pay but the house is rented. I live with my family. Depending on how much i spend a month i try to save a couple of dollars so i can award myself with a new bag once every few months.
On a few special occasions my boyfriend has purchased LV products for me. & on my 21st birthday i was showered with luxuries from my Family & friends because they know i just Lovee them!
I have a credit card but usually i don't purchase any items on it unless i know i have the money in my bank and will transfer it straight away when i get home!
I work hard for my Bags and alot of my friends think where do i get all this money!
And everybody works hard for their lovley luxuries! We all deserve something that makes us happy :)

I'm in my 20s and am currently a full-time student. Right now my husband pays all the bills (until I graduate) and will buy me a purse now and then...But I prefer to earn a purse myself, so I work casually and save up for my treasures.:smile1:

I'm 28 and work in the cosmetics industry. Bags are a newer interest of mine & with my current financial limitations I allow myself to only purchase them at a discount (F&F sales, bag-stalking, etc). I never carry a balance on my credit card and only purchase what I know I can afford (though admittedly I could be putting more $ toward savings). Oftentimes I'll make the purchase on my CC to earn airline miles, then immediately transfer the money from my bank account to the CC company to pay off the purchase before the bill even arrives.

Hey, this peaked my interest... you may not want to immediately transfer money to your credit card. What if there was a transaction you wanted to dispute? If you've already paid the CC company, they may be less inclined to help you against the merchant, and then you're out of the money and the product/service. Just a tip...

I don't think that's right. Generally you have a period of time to dispute a charge. Since I pay off my balance every month, I still have the same right to dispute as if I carried a balance. But everyone should check their terms.

I'm 35 years old and recently married. I feel extremely blessed to be able to buy the things I buy. I am head of marketing for a major entertainment publishing co and movie studio and earn a really really good salary. I own my own home and drive a high end convertible. I also save religiously for retirement.

I own quite a few designer bags (15 Chanels, 6 Bottega Venetas, 4 Guccis, too many Tods). I have already purchased 5 Chanels this year and 3 Bottegas. I pay for all of them with cash or if I decide to charge, pay off the bill at the end of the month. I don't have any kids yet and neither does my DH. We definitely believe in spoiling ourselves and getting what we want now. We do want kids and when the Good Lord decides to bless us with them, we know we will never spend $6K for a handbag or watch ever again. I'm having responsible fun. ;)
