I love the after effects! They dip dye added some mysterious taste in it. Love it!

It does! They did such a great job on it!

I missed the one in LA... I feel like the dipdyes are best for older scarves that need a bit more life and color? I can't bring myself to take in a new scarf to the laundromat!

I can see how that might be when you think that a lot of older scarves may have a lot of "white space" (like Brides de Gala) in the design. But I've seen some recent ones dyed to good effect as well. Iirc, BBC had the pale CW of Parures des Samourais DD'd and it was lovely.

Ok- I am back with my DD pick ups and more....

I remembered to take pictures this time!

Here's the before and after of my two scarves. They came out GREAT and everyone was super nice! I'll surely be going down to Houston town at some point to visit with the lovely SA who was up for the event from the Houston store. She is super sweet.

And a few images from the cases and walls. If you are anywhere near the area, I really suugest making the trip. Come in from the south (Ben White/71) if you come from out of town, and park a couple of block south of it and walk in to avoid SxSW.

These were all for sale:

Vintage 90 Champignons DD'd a beautiful pink with deep plummy brown mushrooms.

 Yes, still hoping they'll :broom: come to me! I'd especially love to have a good, long, look through those they've dipped! :graucho: And I've been very tempted to try dipping myself! My prime candidate is a 70cm double mousseline. Did you see them dipping mousselines? Wondering how well it would work.

I’m in Houston and it just so happens that my kids are traveling out of town for spring break and my DH has to go out of town for business so I suddenly find myself “footloose and fancy free”! for the first time 17 years! I hadn’t planned on going to the event in Austin because of the family but now that they’re a “non-issue”, I would really like to go. I’m an introvert by nature so I’m hesitant about going all by myself. (most people had already made spring break plans and aren’t in town to join me). Also, I’m not from Texas so my driving skills and sense of direction are less than ideal [emoji6].

Based on what I’ve been reading, it sounds like I should really put my big girl panties on and make it a day trip?

I have 2 vintage 90 silk scarves that I never wear because the colors don’t suit me and I was thinking of taking them to Austin and seeing what the experts recommend.

Or, forget my two icky scarves, I’d probably be just as happy perusing the unique silks they’ve designed and just buying those. Lol.

I have a puppy so I would have to bring him with me, I heard Austin is a dog friendly city? How long is the drive

And, if any of you tpfers are planning to go tomorrow, I would love to meet up, even if just to say “hi” [emoji8]

PM me what time you'll be in town and I'll see if I can make it down. I have some work that has to be done either Friday or Saturday but should have some free time.

It's all of 3 hours or so depending on where you are in Houston. Take i10 to 71 in rather than 290. It's a little longer but safer road.

Very dog friendly. Most places leave dog bowls out with water.

I have one more little scarf I might like to ask if it would make a good DD anyway. Might as well ask while I can!

(Totally off topic but...) The bonus on the I-10 to 71 route is Hruska’s! Make sure you take take a 10 minute stop in Ellinger to try their kolaches. They’re the best in Texas, IMO

You can do it!!
Houston to Austin is a very easy drive. Like you I’m not inclined to just go and do something like this but I have made this drive before and it’s not bad.
Stay at the Four Seasons...!!

Thanks! I’ve never loved this design because I don’t like scarves with people on them, but the color is so vibrant that I can wear this scarf even with the little guys and gals circling the design.

I’m like you on the whole little people thing.... I have the din tini scarf in white and absolutely cannot bring myself to wear the scarf around my neck so I’ve been tying it around my waist or backside (over a skirt) where the scary little people aren’t all up in my face.

With everyone’s encouragement, the puppy and I got up early and were on the road around 7:30 AM which put us in Austin around 10:30-ish. I was a little confused at first because I only saw this one guy standing on the sidewalk next to what looked like a hot dog stand/cart. I had to circle the block a couple of times to be sure I was at the correct address.

I dropped off a few scarves to be dip dyed and to be honest, there was so much discussion among the coloration experts (hot pink hair gal included) about which color would work best for each scarf that I don’t remember what we actually agreed on in the end. When I went back to look at my pick up tags/receipts, only the scarf name was listed, no mention of what dye color was going to be used. The pop up shop doesn’t have a phone number so unless I want to make another drive to Austin, I’ll just have to put my faith in the experts! I think they were having problems with the green dye so green wasn’t an option at the time so my scarves will either be blue, fuchsia, or purple!

I was also surprised to see some older patterns there... I kind of have a thing for rabbits so I’ve always been on the look out for Les Bles in a non-pastel colorway. When I was browsing the dyed scarves hanging on the walls, I was drawn to a scarf that was a deep red-fuchsia. Turns out that it was Les Bles! I don’t know how I recognized the pattern because this was one of the silks that I thought soaked up almost too much dye color which made the pattern nearly unrecognizable. But, I bought it anyway! I’m sure nobody will be able to see the rabbits but I’ll know they’re there! IMG_1853.jpg
