Now I'm going to make you crazy.
In your first set of photos, I thought these two scarves looked very washed-out, and they both looked as though they definitely needed a second "dip." But in these photos, in natural light against a white tee, they look a whole lot better. Especially Sangles.
:annoyed:
Are you definitely having them do a second wash of color? Or are you having second thoughts, too?
Or should I just be quiet???

I know, this was a conundrum - I picked them up at night and my initial reaction was, "Hmmm, that's betterrrrrr, but I think they can be improved some more!"

After taking those photos in natural light, I kinda really liked Sangles quite a bit. But I was still tempted by the possibilities of a violet dip and what that might do! I might regret it, we'll see!

I totally agree!

Me, too! [emoji23]

I think you were eventually right in both cases.

I can't remember what colour Chasse's border was before but in the photo (above) it looks geen-y, green and violet = brown. Since you already have the brown of the foxes in there too, it would have been a muddy chasse.
Your color math abilities are so inspirational that I actually thought, "What would papertiger do???" And I heard your voice in my head saying, "Go back and change it to blue!" So thank you for all your contributions on this thread - they've been enormously helpful! [emoji847][emoji847][emoji847]

Agree. Just thought the same thing. In fact sangles looks great!

I know, right?! I hope it comes out even better than this! I'm maybe thinking I should've dyed it violet first, then blue but too late now!

Such a cute picture!

I love your after results - great choice!

Fantastic first dye results! Can’t wait to see second round.

I can't wait to see them - they said I will need to pick up at the boutique on Tuesday. Will post a second reveal then!

That's hilarious.

I can't wait to see them either, so excited for you.

I really like the dip dye effect on the Canards (way more interesting IMHO than the original cw) but totally understand that if the yellow doesn't work next to your skin you would be disappointed.

I think we all know how it feels to have been looking forward to something pretty and to be disappointed, and I am very sorry about it. If it doesn't look good on you, it doesn't, and that is a real let down, especially with H.

However. I hope you won't be irritated if I say I agree with shrpthorn that the dyed scarf is more interesting than the original. In fact, this is one of my favorite transformations on this thread: it might be the only time I've seen a lot of details revealed by the dye, instead of obscured by it. I am (selfishly) so glad you tried it and showed us the result.

I hope there is some way to recuperate it for you. (That pillow-cover thread comes to mind.) If not, I hope there's at least a little pleasure in having given us something so pretty to look at. :flowers:

Honeylocks, I'm sorry you are disappointed with your results, but I have to say, I've come back to your post to take another look, and I really like them! Once you have them in hand, you may change your mind, especially when you pair them with the right sweater/sweatshirt/t-shirt. They are so soft and snuggly when worn, in a different way from the cashmeres. I'm hoping you get inspired! :flowers:

Thank you all for your kind words.
I finally got to see it in person and still do not know how I feel about it, somehow it looks dirty (in German we have the word "Gilb" for the yellowish tone of older textiles). But it looks nice with teal and it feels very soft.
But I still consider setting it free for a nice new home or tuning it into a pillowcase (not that it already has a yellow tone I do not have to worry about it turning yellow). Now the next challenge is mending the ripped corners...

Just to share...Caught the Hermesmatic pop up in the west side LA. Staff was lovely, very helpful in advising which dip dye hues are best for original scarf colourway. I opted to dip dye a BDG twilly ruined by cleaners - a section of the orange pattern had bled/smudged onto the white background. Staff seemed shocked when I said after this happened, I gave the twilly to my doggie to use [emoji28] . I went against their color advice(I don’t wear fuschia or violet, which they thought will be better dyes to transform the twilly) and chose all blue to hopefully make it uniformly denim/indigo. Whatever the result it will resurrect the scarf, and my doggie and I will have fun using it one way or another [emoji846].

I did not have a lot of time to dig through the scarves they were selling, but it appeared they had a good selection of both dyed and original color ways(they even had the Glass House Ltd edt 90cm). Wish I could have grabbed an indigo dip dye boucle giant silk, it looked super cool with its muted vibe.

The photo booth set up was fun. They had the Hermes wash wall as backdrop, orange chairs and a basket filled with scarves to play with for when you take photos. Here are a couple from my phone(taken with staff permission and she encouraged to post and hashtag online). I have yet to pick up the finished twilly from my home store, will report results later.

I recently dropped off a scarf at the LA pop-up and it was shipped to my local store. It was a beauty before but I did not wear it often and I certainly wanted to participate in this unique event. Before:

I was definitely drawn to the fuchsia and violet dyes but after consulting with the associate I decided against the violet since it would likely turn the yellow a bit muddy and this scarf has a lot of yellow. I thought I would do fuchsia but after she explained that I would get some rich greens and teals from the denim blue dip dye, I eventually opted for that. As others have noted, it is difficult to capture the color of these well; here is the after:

I'm very pleased with the outcome and love the look and feel (it is definitely a bit softer). My only regret is that I didn't buy another of the ones they had for sale ;)
