Has anyone dipdyed a plisse at the Hermesomatic?
I would not recommend it either dear. Once silk has been pleated the fabric has been creased and the dyes will likely settle into those crevices, even if the silk has been pressed out. Of course it could be a happy accident, but it would be noticeable as an effect.

Apologies for not reporting back from the Manchester dip dye event. I took 4 scarves in all and -although I warn you the pictures aren't great - I am really pleased with the results. The important thing is that I had 4 scarves that were languishing unloved at the bottom of the wardrobe and now they are all wearable and doing good service again.

I had 2 scarves of the Mechanique du Temps design. The blue one was about the third scarf I ever bought and was a workhorse but the blues did look tired and I had never liked the dirty yellow colours so I elected to give it the denim blue treatment and although much of the detail is lost to the casual observer the blue dye on a blue scarf has made this perfect to wear with jeans.

Similarly with the latest reissue of Mechanique de Temps I loved some of the deeper pinks but the salmon tones of the others made this 'spring' scarf just about unwearable for me. This was subjected also to the denim blue dye and the results maintain a bit more of the detail and transformed the pinks into purples and burgundies.

The ladies and gentlemen running the event thought their stand-out achievement was this; Serenite.
I did like the lilac although it is a bit too pastel for me but absolutely hated the washed out straw yellow of the crossed bamboo structure at the centre of the scarf. So, I took the staff's advice ( I later was told she was the PR manager for Hermes in the UK) and this scarf was given the 'paradise blue' dye. And it has come out a most brilliant and lustrous turquoise colour.

Somehow the dip dye made the green leaves that bit more intense and maintained the deep purple of the interesting orchids in the design = result!

Lastly may I present the most difficult scarf. This is Rives Fertiles which was a deep magenta with lots of copper and olive. Somehow over the years it has become more and more difficult for me to wear this scarf - maybe it's just the ageing process and my skin becoming ever more tired. But it was hard to see which one of the dyes would do it any justice at all. Because I needed to tone down the virulent magenta and the copper colours I was advised to go for the red dye. I knew it was a risk but I also knew virtually any result would be an improvement. And so it came to pass - somehow the magenta while still being vivid is wearable for me but the other colours are toned down. It was a shame to lose the olive colours which I loved but I'll just have to buy a new green scarf in future seasons! This scarf has instantly become my workhorse scarf. You may notice all the 'after' photos show a lot of crinkling - well the dip dye process eradicates the pristine smooth silk twill effect and they need a lot more ironing but they are also warmer so with the winter weather closing in I am wearing my new dip dyes all the time.

Oh my gosh, les tambours, what amazing transformations! I literally "oooh"ed out loud after every before and after shot! I'm so pleased you're so happy with them. What a cool way for H to make us love them even More than we already do. I can't wait to take my singleton in and see how it can be transformed into something more wearable for me.

Which scarf are you bringing to be transformed, Joannadyne? Or is it a secret? :giggle:

Having attended two events, I'm up to six fully transformed scarves. Hopefully, I'll stop at four more. I'm a dip dye addict (see my avatar, LOL), though have only purchased GMs. This is a whole new world of wonder:)

So hard to pick a favorite Les Tambours, but I find the Rives Fertiles especially wonderful. As you say, the texture is just dreamy as the weather cools; time to pull mine out!
