Just got back. I got there around 9:30 and there was a small line that took about 30 minutes to pass through.
Once inside I was unimpressed with the selection, but honestly that’s hardly a surprise considering the past couple of scarf seasons have been a bust for me. Scarves that didn’t work on me when new clearly weren’t going to magically work just because they’d gone on sale.
I was mostly keen to see what mousselines they had; that’s my favorite format and they’re a wild card, showing up from random seasons. No luck there for me, but they had some beautiful color ways of Iris (which I already own) and Zebra Pegasus (which doesn’t suit me). There was also one lone Aux Portes floating around in vivid multicolor. No exceptional scarves, a first in my sale-going.
Didn’t see a single Twilly, which was unfortunate because I was hoping to check a couple off a friend’s wishlist.
The shoe selection in my size had been picked pretty clean. I saw a couple pairs I had considered buying in the boutique but didn’t feel moved to pick them up given the chance st the sale.
Ultimately I walked out with only a jaunty little rouge hat, but I’m very happy with it and it justified the short wait in line for me.
Speaking of the line... sadly there are still hideously entitled, rude people showing up and cutting the line. It’s one thing if you and a friend show up at the same time and trade off getting coffee for each other... or if you arrive early and hold a place for an elderly or disabled person. It’s quite another to have a friend or (in one incident I saw) your whole family join you half an hour or more after you’ve gotten in line. Imagine if EVERYONE did that! It’s so thoughtless and gauche, and speaks volumes about the unreflectively selfish character of the perpetrator. I know I’m preaching to the choir here, because no doubt TPFers have far better manners— but future sale-goers, please DO call out people who behave this way. I dressed down two women who decided they were exempt from the line today, and I also alerted security (who was already giving them the stink eye because one of them was loudly asserting that the cloakroom staff had stolen her portable folding stool from her checked tote bag on the previous day). I also saw a petite French woman reach up and grab a large German man by the collar and physically drag him several feet out of the line when he invited his three friends to join him. I prefer to call out people’s inconsideration verbally and leave the rest to security, but I can understand how she felt for sure! If someone does this and you’re nearby, do everyone a favor by guarding the time of your fellow H fans who are standing in line too.
