Well, I booked my day off work and Eurostar ticket to go to the sale. This will be my 7th in a row. The financial pressures of divorce from the DH (
), fabulous new Hampstead flat that I just bought and am completely redecorating in an Art Deco style (
), weak £ (damned Brexit
) and the fact that I really don't, strictly speaking, NEED any more Hermes (as well as the unpleasant fact that the sale itself is just a lot of drama) lost out to the siren call of Hermes at a discount and the chance to get a special treasured piece or two (which has happened for me at every sale). So I'm going for the first day of the public sale on 9 January. If any newbies want me to show you the ropes then DM me. It's shark infested waters, you need to know what you are doing to make the most of the Hermes sale in Paris. Merry Christmas everybody!

OMG are you the David Fincher who wrote the post on StyleBarista or something dated 3 years ago?? Fabulous! Is it at the same location this year? How do you find out about the dates and times etc? I only do sample sales in London and taking days off for that but never been to Paris for a sample sale! You must be a real love of it. I had a dream that I was in an Hermes sample sale last night so I decided to google this morning (nut case I know), but I woke up in great mood.
Yup I wrote the article on Style Barista after my first sale 3 years ago. It’s gotten a lot tougher since then, the resellers have come out of the woodwork and you have to be prepare for insane queues. But I love my Hermes, I decorate my home with framed Hermes scarves and invariably am wearing an Hermes tie (on work days) or other Hermes items on other days (belts, click clack, shoes, scarves). I have a real passion for the brand, I think it’s in a league of its own in terms of combination of quality, variety of product range, aesthetic, creativity, artistry, prestige and history—can’t think of any other designer that combines all of those things in the way Hermes does.

Bad news the sale is only in Paris twice a year. Occasionally they have sales in other places (HK, USA) but the main way that Hermes sells old seasons at a discount is at the Paris sale.

Have heard there is a private sale on Tuesday, by invitation only. Have also heard that H employees can get even deeper discounts but am not sure when they get to do that. Finally there have been sales in London (as well as various US locations and Hong Kong) but nothing in London recently.
