Hermes watches - Official Thread

For anyone considering a purchase of either the single or double-tour Rose Sakura Cape Cod I thought I would let you know that as of today there are seven(!) for sale on Fashionphile - all of them listed as New and ranging in price from $2800 to $3400! I was thinking of buying one at Hermes but I may just buy one of those. I do not understand how this can be though. How can so many limited edition watches (which are still being sold in Hermes boutiques) - in New condition - be on a resale website at nearly half off retail price? Could they be fake? Why would so many people be buying, never using, and then reselling at a loss a limited edition watch?
Because watch purchases are a good way to get closer to a bag offer. Some people would rather lose $3000 on a watch than pay $6k over retail for a bag. Kind of silly to me since the bag is never a guarantee but it’s how some people choose to play the game. Check out the FP supply of the “finesse” fine jewelry line for a real laugh…

Thank you for the insight. It does seem silly wasting time and money buying things you don't want just to get access to a bag offer. Seems it might be cheaper in the long run to just pay the mark up at a reseller and get exactly what you want. So I think I just may buy a Sakura watch off of Fashionphile! I and others can actually benefit from others playing the game. And I think we all need to acknowledge here just what a brilliant and profitable game Hermes has created for itself!

Wrote a long answer then deleted.

Basically only let a recommended watch repair person work on your watch. when your watch is opened up any number of things can be damaged or replaced & you would probably not know.

I would call the closest Hermes and ask for a recommendation. It’s the best way to maintain a precious item.

Good luck!
Sorry I can’t be more help
Maybe if it's still under warranty, but my SA told me to stop wasting money having H change my batteries when the local watch guy can do it cheaply.

Does anyone have any comments on the Heure H women’s watch in terms of quality and any maintenance issues. I was actually considering the men’s arceau squelette watch too but saw a post here it had too many maintenance issues :( appreciate the help!

I’ve got one Heure 21mm in gold strap and silver hardware . Never gave me any issues.
Just bought a unicorn model from a reseller - Gold hardware with 11 diamonds, mother of pearl face and beautiful emerald green strap , at 50% off retail ! I’m a watch person and love my ‘high end’ watches but Hermes watches are great value for money since most of them are purchased to ‘meet the quota’ , hence you can easily get them off the reseller market in unused conditions for a huge discount .

For me, this watch is a ‘dupe’ for the Cartier torneau that costs an arm and a leg , since it’s from the house of Hermes and Swiss made - why not? :)

The Hodinkee watch site has launched a special collab with Hermès on a watch. Very tempting!

My DH is a watch nerd and loves his H08.

DH loves the H08, but he has two issues with it. The fob is not the easiest to turn and the time springs forward a bit (on all of them— it’s not a defect on ours— as per our SA, so one has to compensate) or at least this is vaguely what I recall from listening to my SA and DH talk about the H08 generally

Can I ask where you guys get the battery changed? The closest H store to me is an hour away. Does it really have to be changed at H? Thanks in advance
I get the quartz battery of my H double tour watch changed wherever convenient. It’s faster and easier than taking to Hermes.

For watch enthusiasts or people who value high end watches for their mechanical function, H has its own in-house movement the H1837. Currently, only the H08 and Arceau Petite Lune lines have this feature. I’d say it’s on par with the funcionality you find in JLC or ALS.
Oh this is new to me. I knew my Petite Lune had a special H movement, my SA mentioned it when I chose it. Nice to see it’s in this new one as well. Thanks for sharing!
