I heard of a great leather shop that does wonders on almost anything leather including shoes, handbags, belts, etc. They were referred to me by a friend. Just have to ship to them and let them do their 'magic.' Once I receive I'll post before and after photos. Fingers crossed all goes as hoped!

Lexol ph, referred to me by a friend that only buys vintage Chanel. She uses that and the preservative Lexol on all of her bags and says it keeps them spotless. I've tried it on older Bally bags that i've had for years, worked very well actually. Hope that clarifies. Thanks Doc.

yes thats good lexol ph I recommend also for cleaning most types of fine leathers. im not so keen on the lexol original formula for fine finished leathers...there are other products I prefer ...
All the best,doc

ok then, I thought you wanted help. good luck
I do and appreciate your replies. Finally reached Atlanta Hermes and discussed the spa treatment. They send to NY and takes about 4-6 weeks. Pricing varies on what needs to be done, she mentioned $200 or so which I'll be more than happy to pay to get it looking new. Once I get my Kelly I'll figure out what I need to do and have concerns about. I'll post pics for others to review as well. I like perfection but not going to get that in a 23 year old H that has been loved and used. However I did get perfection in a 20 year old Chanel, one owner, rarely used it, pristine condition, so pleased with that purchase. Thanks again.

Hi Docride,

I desperately need your expertise.

I have a black Epsom birkin bag that has a kinda deep finger nail scratch. I tried rubbing it with my fingers hoping the oil will help and I also tried baby wipes. No luck. I went and bought a meltonian cream polish in black. I used a gentle foamy shoe polish and rubbed it along the scratch let it dry and wiped the excess color and let it dry. I touched that area and it felt funny so I used a damp cloth and some color came off. So I used a kiwi all weather spray. I will find out tomorrow if it still rubs off. Am I doing things right? The scratch is still visible if u angle it around.
Should I also get a neutral or delicate cream and should I apply before the black cream or after.
How do I make the color permanent and not come off in case I want to clean the bag when I'm not using it.

Thanks

hi there, this is exactly the reason I came up with Luxury Again Care kits the other methods ive recommended were confusing and the amount to use vague so optimal results were not always the outcome
you can clean you bag now with a leather cleaner you;; want one which remove the excess waxes luxury Again cleanser works great or try actually I don't know of one which would work better in this case.but can try lexol ph wipes. Try a Luxury Again Spa kit that will get you sorted the one for vintage bags will give you everything you could need or want to sort out your gorgeous bag plus a good polish and brush and cloth.

I hope this helps, all the best, doc

Dear Docride, thx a million for your reply. I guess I would get the Lexol ph wipes to clean it for the time being(as I can find it locally) and wait for the shipment of Luxury Again Spa kit, which takes about 2 weeks.

Can I start my Luxury Again Spa Kit procedure as soon as I get it? or wait til the next maintenance time (in about 4 to 6 months) since I had recently done my B&O treatment? I live in the tropical so it's hot and humid here.
If the Spa Kit is done do I need another layer from Luxury Again Weather & Stain Shield kit?

Many thanks again, I feel so blessed to have your advice on my exploration of vintage bags. again I hope you a speedy recovery :hugs:

Dear docride

I have a question about evergrain leather. It is so buttery but can show scratches easily. Also, the country I live in always has rain. I wonder whether I can use Hermes saddle balm to buff off the scratches and at the same time condition the bag (to make it more usable in rainy days)? Thanks much in advance.

hi there,
I wish you had come here first

you are all over the place with products

stop putting colored polish on your bag lean your bag off with a good cleaner I would say use luxury again cleansing wipes to remove the waxes

get some tarrago color dye kit in black clean the area for color touch up with the prep in the bottle and then touch up the mark.

now stop .... you are done..

good luck,, all the best doc

PS> Never use baby wipes on your bags they remove the finish ...its a huge no no
