I was thinking If any leather creme product can help smooth out the winkle on my herbag shoulder strap?
Part of the strap start to have winkle while some parts still smooth.
This bag is new, bought about 4 months back but recently just start using. Not too sure if this the character of this hunter leather? Or should I just leave it alone ?

And also can leather creme help to reduce the scratches/marks?

Thanks in advance !

Hi Docride,

I have a 2002 Herbag cabas in blue that I have used as a workhorse bag for years -- book bag back in college, travel, gym stuff etc. I did condition the leather throughout use, so it's not dry, and canvas has held up beautifully, but the suede part of the handles is starting to look very dirty. Is there a way to clean it, at least somewhat? I have an Ahmedabad bag with the same issue also, so it would really be very helpful.

Thank you so much!

You can certainly clean the handles, however the problem may be color loss? Or color change die to excess oils or conditioners... can you show me more?
All the best,doc

Thanks for responding!

I meant just the 'suede' part (so the part that is not the smooth leather). You can see it got grimy over the years.

Wrinkles are going to happen that's just the nature of the leather breaking in so to speak. many times it's the areas which are bending the most and or without the most weight to pull it down and stretch it out which will show the most wrinkling .
No leather cream wont reduce marks or scratches .. a leather conditioner may help make scratches blend back in the patina ... meaning as leather is sued it gets many scratches these are often looking lighter in color because the leather surface is lifted there ... a conditioner can often make those areas look darker and therefore less noticeable. At least for darker colored finished leathers.

Hello DocRide,

My Kelly Vache Liegee is in good condition but it is a little bit dirty. Could you please help me, let me know how I can clean and condition this beauty? Can I use Lexol PH wipes? What other products should I use on this one? Thank you so much and you're greatly appreciated!!:smile1:

I would use Luxury Again Cleansing wipes over Lexol PH wipes in this case. But if you already have the Lexol PH wipes then go with those. and of course there are other leather cleaners out there as well...
In this case see how much of what you perceive to be dirt is actually dirt and how much is simply color change, remember to go easy with cleaning you have a two toned leather and aggressive cleaning and scrubbing will remove the two tone effect and possibly accidentally remove the top skin.... So go easy and se what's what... And let me know how it's going....

Good luck, doc

Hi Doc, Please forgive me if you've already addressed with somewhere else that I failed to find, but I wanted to ask you if there is any way to get rid of heat stamped initials. I saw a bag like the one in the photo below, but didn't buy it because of the initials (O.P. in this photo). It was a terrific price and in very good condition so I'd go back and grab it if I could somehow get rid of the initial, or at least make them fairly inconspicuous. Thanks in advance for your help on this question, as well as for all your previous advice which I've found invaluable!!!

Docride,

My bleu thalassa box birkin has this strange white linty looking material on the inside notch of the hermes plate. Is this dry rot?

This only occured on 1 side. The other side has the resin in tact.

Dear Doc
I bought a 1970s vintage Hermes beauty recently. Although it's generally in good condition, there are a pen mark and some greenish marks near the metal hardware which I wasn't sure what they are! Have you seen these marks before and do you have any advice about cleaning then? Thank you!

Thank you so much, Doc! I have Lexol PH wipes on hand and I just tried it on Vache Liegge, but the dirt didn't come off. I gingerly wiped it with ligheter hand since I was afraid to rub off the 2 tone effect on this leather. I'm sure they are dirt since they look more like spots on the front of the bag.

Maybe I should try Luxury again cleansing wipes. :smile1:

BTW, I have an Bolide in Chamonix rouge that I accidentallly spilled hot coffee on :crybaby: I quickly used napkin wiped the bag and used wet paper towel cleaned the spot until the smell of coffee gone. I then took the bag (Chamonix rouge) to Hermes for a spa and I just got it back. In bright sunlight, I still noticed the brown patch where I spilled the coffee on. Is there anything I can do at this point? Can I use any color touch up for this case?? Please advise>>>:smile1:

Hi all, I have been lurking on the Chanel forum for a good few years, but recently decided to take the Hermes plunge. I bought a pre owned 70's bag, I think it was called Elisa (or something similar) and a vintage Kelly. The previous owner of this thought it was from the 70's but looking at the letter on the bag it says an I with no circle or square, so I think I am right in saying that this is from 1953? Anyway, a while ago I took your advice and purchased some Blackrock from the US (I'm in the UK). Just wanted to say it has worked wonders on not only my Hermes bags, but also my vintage Chanels. Thank you for giving us such valuable information so that we can enjoy caring for our precious bags ourselves!
