Hi Doc!
You know when boxcalf gets wrinkly between the handle & turn lock on a Birkin? What causes that? Can we avoid it, treat it, or should we just embrace it?
Thanks!!

Oops, not turn lock, between the handle & the strap guide. Here's a pic:

Oh really?? Ok thanks! Blackrocks then? It's only like that in that area.

Blackrocks leather N rich can help or another conditioner.. that area is showing what is most likely happening on other areas on the leather.

This is the leather shrinking ( due to driness ) below the *top coat or* finish (*the sprayed on color coating applied at the tannery)..then the finish which does not shrink ripples and wrinkles and eventually cracks and sometimes flakes off...
So conditioning the leather can help allow the leather to return to a less contracted state and in so doing the leather and it's top coat/finish will appear less wrinkled.
Does this make sense?

This makes sense... it's weird though - it's only wrinkly when the bag is upright & empty & kind of leans in on itself. If I stuff it, it looks normal...
I'll do a good conditioning as you suggested

Curious - does H spa condition? I took my bag to my boutique earlier this year with the intent to have it conditioned & my SA said that it didn't need it yet ... but she said that because there were no scuffs/scratches.

Oh I see now you tell me.. so the bag wrinkles when it's bent? If that's the case then yes it's normal ... disregard former answer to your question.

Can't say what H does exactly.... As far as I know they use polish on the bag which has some conditioning aspects they may well use a conditioner and cleaner but you would have to ask them.

Hi Doc:

I have just bought a vintage box calf dark navy blue Kelly off eBay but it does not come with a strap. There is another auction on a vintage box cafe dark brown strap, will I be able to dye the strap to a dark navy blue to match my "new" Kelly? And want materials I will need? Thanks

Hello, No going to Navy from Dark Brown Brown will not work out nicely... pass on this project... Find a lighter colored strap.

Hi doc,
I searched this forum and I think I did not find any answer to my "problem".
I purchaded a pair of so lovely Land Boots in etriviere leather lately and I did not ware them so far as i am not sure how to treat them. it seems that this leather scratches easily because as i bought them in my store they already had some scratches. I don´t mind these but I don´t want to ruin the leather while wearing the boots in ugly weather and so on.
I would be pleased for some advice fron the expert:smile1:
thank you!!!

Hi Doc!

I have read through this forum and am amazed with your advice! I finally got my first birkins bag:smile1: but it is not in the greatest condition.. From far the bag looks clean but up close, you can tell the leather is dirty. Do you have any advice on how i can clean the bag or touch it up??

Any advice would be greatly appeciated!!
Thank you in advance!!!:D

Hi Docride, just purchased a 35 year old Constance in Box Leather (chocolate color), and a few areas are showing some dryness but no deep cracks. Was thinking of doing a treatment with Blackrock's Leather n' Rich for conditioning, but was wondering if
1) is this the best product
2) if this is OK, is there anything in particular I need to worry about (with regard to your instructions on previous threads)---for example, do I need to avoid the stitches on the bag? It is in very good structural condition (nothing loose or fraying).

thanks so much!
