Hi Docride,

I've B&O'd my VN numerous times (lost count) and after leaving her alone for a time/using, have now been noticing some dirty marks. Is it safe to wipe down with Lexol Wipes? On really close inspection, many pores are darkened with dirt it seems...

Thanks :smile1:

Are you sure it's dirty marks and not just absorptions of conditioners? Can you show what it looks like/

Hi everyone!

I'm considering buying this (& my first) Hermes Birkin because it's a really good price for me. But the bag has very obvious traces as you can see in the pictures. I was wondering if Hermès would accept this for a spa treitment and if the stains would disappear after the retreitment/ what the results you think would be like? And how much it would approximately cost? I have never owned a Birkin so I'd really appreciate some advice from you ladies! :winkiss:

An Hermes spa will not make the dark stains and dark handles disapear. I can not quote you a price for an Hermes spa you can ask eslewhere. Each country is different.

Hi Docride

I bought this vintage rouge H box constance recently from a reputable online reseller and when i received it, it had like white print marks on the top flap. they are not scratches, and I suspect it is residue (maybe glue?) from customs handling of the bag when it arrived in my country. Any suggestions for removing it? Can i try to buff out the marks or apply similar colour polish to the white marks if they don't come out?

I thought I will try you first before taking it to H for a spa that will most likely take 6 months.

thank you very much..

Don't know where you are located or what you might have handy to clean your bag with. If you are stateside I would try BlackRocks Leather N Rich it may help remove the white marks and it looks as though your bag could use some moisturizing cleaner as well.

thank you Docride. i am in the UK. previously (in post 5746) you have advised me that creamy carnuba based wax products are alternatives for Blackrock, beeswax for Obernauf and Woly for Meltonian.

Can I just follow your B&O steps to moisturise and clean the constance? Thanks again!

If you want to moisturize and clean your (Box Calf?) then use Blackrocks Leather N Rich (I would treat this bag to several rounds of treatments with resting the leather about 6 hours in between) no need for Obenauf's LP Heavy Duty.

Hello Docride,
I know this is off topic, but you have helped me in the past so I thought I'd ask your advice.

I have this leather bag(Cettu) that I found that was is very bad shape(the bag was the color of dust when I found it) I've gotten most of the dirt off to actually see the color of the bag(grey). The problem is areas of built-up debris(have no idea what it is). The leather is not cracked or dry, very supple in fact. A cobbler suggested that I use Meltonian leather cleaner, stating that this would help even out the color( I did) but it does nothing for the heavy debris. I'd hate to throw it out because it's still in very good shape.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Docride,
I hope you can help me on this case. Please bear me with me with the short story if you don't mind.
I bought a Black Kelly Doblis/Suede 32 Retourne GHW from eBay recently.
My biggest concern was the lack of year blind stamp/ craftman/woman stamp. So I followed up with the seller about the origin of the bag with its' previous owner.
According the the seller, the previous owner bought it 8-10 years ago in CA and I also found out, the bag was sitting on his shop for quite awhile so it became dusty and dirty. He actually gave the bag to a professional leather cleaner and they DRY-CLEANED the bag! I almost fainted. I'm still waiting for more information about what exactly they did.
The outside part does looks clean, but the inside leather lining has this horizontal lines and feels rather odd to the touch as picture attached. It was mentioned that it might be Agneau leather, but I compared it with my vintage Bolides and it looks and feel different.
I'm guessing whether the condition of the leather is because of how it was stored/treated by previous owner or because of the dry cleaning. The suede part also feels dry.
Also, what upsets me is also the Hermes Paris stamp on the suede part faded which I believe because they dry cleaned it. Sigh... I'm attaching pictures of before and after too.
Is there anything I can or should do to this bag please Doc ?
Thanking you very much in advance Doc.

I am sorry but I am not sure what to address with your questions...The stamp doesn't look too bad to me,the suede looks quite good, the interior looks OK also. I would not tell you to condition the suede. You can clean your interior and condition it with some lexol PH leather wipes. You will not want to get wetness on the suede, you might want a suede brush to keep your suede looking nice. I hope that helps?

Heya Doc,
I apologize if I wasn't clear with my post.
The leather lining, if it is indeed Agneau leather doesn't look the Agneau lining that I have on my vintage Bolides. Hence why I wonder what happened to it and what can be done about it.
I will definitely follow your suggestion to condition it with Lexol and a suede brush for the suede.
You've always helped a lot Doc. :smile1: I can't thank you enough for what you've done. :hugs::ty:

It looks like goatskin or calf skin lining from here but you have only given me one close up photo so I am guessing and if so it's safe to use the lexol Ph leather wipes if the thin lambskin or Kidskin do not use lexol ph leather wipes on it.
