Marveloius news start with a gentle cleaning with the Lexol PH leather wipes taking care to not over wet the bag. Follow directions on the container. Note that any areas of waer may become darker but should lighten up a bit once dry.
Once dry you can start applying color preparer to the areas with color loss .
Mix your colors in a small bowl to make a color match
apply colot as needed carefully with a sponge and a tapping on tecnique
When completed don't do anymore to the bag for 48hrs
After 48hrs you can applu polish and buff out.

I'm mixing the actual liquid dye, correct? Thanks, Doc!

Hi Dear Docride,

I recently got a Constance and Silk-In Wallet in Epsom. I haven't really started using them at all, but noticed there are marks on both of them that are "shiny..." I think on the Constance Wallet it is from opening and closing the H buckle, and on the Silk-In because it rubbed up against hardware from another wallet.

My question is is there any way to get the "shiny" spot out of the epsom? I tried to take a photo of it, but it is hard to see unless it is from the side and the light reflects off of it.

Thanks for any advice!

Shiny? You'll really need to make this understandable..You mean you have areas which were exposed to something which rubbed them and there for left a shiny area after contact with another object? Or you have an indentation and loss of texture or press mark on the leather's texture which makes it appear shiny?

If it is polish or oil or what I can not say...

Wear areas will change this is the nature of natural leather objects which are made to be used..they will change. If you want it to stay looking perfect and new you will be fighting an uphill battle...

Dear Doc,

I would like to seek your expertice once again please. I just bought a new swift bag. Its brand new from the store, but i think it has been a display unit, so its already showing some slouch, and the bag doesn't stand straight anymore, slanted to one side. Which is fine, I like it that way.

I plan to use this as my everyday bag, and I normally don't baby bags AT ALL. So my question is: Should I treat the swift leather bag to help it resist scratch & rain better before I start using it? If yes, what do I use/do? Is Meltonian waterproof spray ok? Just as a side note, I had never ever done any DIY on leather before. Total newbie here.

Thank you so much, Doc. And would like to say again your contribution here is just so amazing!! :woohoo::hugs:

I think you may have trouble in getting the ProOil Dye to become stabil when applying it to a finished leather such as courchevel. It is not just a matter of appling dye there is a great deal of prep to the leather before hand, additionally an older bag with wear will not take a a pro oil dye which is a translucient dye or color wash type dye up evenly and so you will have a blotchy end product. IMO you should try and stay with your original color or send the bag out to a trusted leather restoration professional.

Thank you for your the advice. I have another Kelly in Courchevel which is almost as new...I could not find a care guide for courchevel leather in this threat..just one for barenia and one for box leather.. can you give me any advice on how to SPA a courchevel Kelly? Can I use Lexol PH for the cleaning? I tried to polish the bag with Elephant Leather Preserver but I could not get the leather shiny...the bag is still looking very dull.
Thank you for your help!

Hi Doc! I've just gotten a pre-loved Herbag, and I have a couple questions about Vibrato and Vache Hunter leather care.

1. Can I B&O the Hunter safely?

2. Is there anything I can/should do to care for/protect the Vibrato?

Also (while I'm at it) I have a success story to share with the Vibrato on this bag. This is not something I read about on this wonderful thread, but I consider it inspired by your advice, which has given me a lot more confidence in caring for my bags! When my Herbag got here, it had some serious creasing and crinkling on the backside. I figured it got that way from pressure while being stored, and wondered if some pressure applied in the other direction might help it a bit. I very carefully put two flat weights inside the bag, insuring that the crinkled part of the bag was as straight as possible laid flat against a hard surface. I left the weights inside for 48 hours, carefully lifted them out, and was delighted to see that the crinkling is very much diminished!

Here's a before and after shot, although the before doesn't quite capture how bad the crinkling was-- it was really accordion-ed up!

Swift shouldn't need to be weather proofed. There isn't anything to apply which could protect it from scratches. IMO this leather should just be used as is. if exsposed to weatehr simply pat itdown with a soft old fluffy towel to dry.

Condtioners and leather presevers are not polishes. get a neutral shoe polish and polish your bag to the shine level you desire. No need for cleaning now you already used a presever...

Hi Docride,

I'd like to bid on these two bags and I was hoping if you could tell me if either of the bags is salvageable and if so, how i can go about taking care of them.
Please find the links below.
Bag 1:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/120984328442?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
^^^ This bag has some larger blemishes and honestly they'll be difficult to make kess noticable.

bag2:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/120985164019?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
^^^ This bag has less blemishes and it appears someone has already touched up the corners,

Thank you in advance

I say Bag no 2 is the easier to clean up and enjoy. Good luck.

1. Can I B&O the Hunter safely?
Docride Answer> Yes

2. Is there anything I can/should do to care for/protect the Vibrato?
Docride answer> Have a pumice stone on hand for cleaning, and a suede brush may come in handy.

Also (while I'm at it) I have a success story to share with the Vibrato on this bag. This is not something I read about on this wonderful thread, but I consider it inspired by your advice, which has given me a lot more confidence in caring for my bags! Looks great! Do take care not to get conditioners on the vibrato parts or it will be a mess that will be hard to make better.

Virbrato can be cleaned with a pumice stone .Good luck.

Hi Docride,

I've B&O'd my VN numerous times (lost count) and after leaving her alone for a time/using, have now been noticing some dirty marks. Is it safe to wipe down with Lexol Wipes? On really close inspection, many pores are darkened with dirt it seems...

Thanks :smile1:

Hi everyone!

I'm considering buying this (& my first) Hermes Birkin because it's a really good price for me. But the bag has very obvious traces as you can see in the pictures. I was wondering if Hermès would accept this for a spa treitment and if the stains would disappear after the retreitment/ what the results you think would be like? And how much it would approximately cost? I have never owned a Birkin so I'd really appreciate some advice from you ladies! :winkiss:
