Hello Doc,

Got my Blackrock and Obenauf. I've been reading the posts on this thread and now am confused, please confirm if I got this right. If I have not please kindly directly me to the right post.

For a Brand New Box Birkin (2x blackrock and 1xObenauf)
1. Blackrock 1st round: use fingers? to apply in small circular motions
2. Wipe off excess immediately with paper towel on each panel/side
3. Leave to rest, how many hours?
4. Blackrock 2nd round: apply second round
5. Wipe off excess immediately with paper towel on each side
6. Leave to rest
7. Buff ??
8. Obenauf: apply with finger tips? in a circular motion
9. Leave to rest? For how long?
10: Last round of Blackrock for polish?

Thanks in advance Doc!

Hi, Kallie Girl posted a great guide to using both products in post #280 on page 19 of this thread.

Docride, thanks for your invaluable advice. I did the blackrocks and obenauf on my box Kelly a few days ago. Today I got stuck in the rain but the water just beaded on the bag til I was able to wipe it off! Hooray! No blisters!!

Any good neutral polsih will do
(Meltonian,Griffen,Kiwi,Sapphir,Woly,Tarrago etc)Good luck!:smile1:
Hello Doc,

I was wondering whether there is any kind of leather filler or conditioner that will help erase the imprint left from an old monogram? I have a black 1960 Kelly that was monogrammed by a previous owner. The gold monogram itself has been removed well, but the imprint is very visible.

Thank you for your assistance!

Best wishes to all!

Good Morning Doc,
I just received my vintage hermes bonwitt teller trim bag :)!!!!!! It is black leather and suede and in mint condition. What would you suggest I treat it with before I use it. I am always wary of suede even black. It is from the last 60's if that helps. Thanks so much for your help.

Hello, Yes there are fillers certainly, however applying it can be a bit tricky and the end result may look a bit different than the surrounding area. The rather toxic one (use outside only )is made by Kiwi its'a patch filler called Kiwi Shoe and Boot patch
you can buy this online at www.shoetreemarketplace.com
Or you can buy a non-toxic leather filler from www.leatherworldtech.com the ones they offer take some time to get the hang off and can crack out, but work fairly well.
Additionally there are online liquid leather/vinyl products which are heat activated you might try (I never had much luck with finding a good one to recommend).
Let me know which you'd like to try and come back when your products arrive and I'll help walk you through. OK?:smile1:

Hi there, Congrats on your new to you Hermes bag.
Your best bet is to buy a suede brush, first off.
You can use a neutral polish on the smooth leather and suede brush for your seude should it get wet. There are suede water repellants certainly.however you maybe fine with suede cleaner and a suede brush for up keep (I prefer this).
I hope this helps?:smile1:

Hello Doc,
Thank you so much! I will definitely keep you posted! :-)
Best wishes

Hi Doc, I've been admiring your work from afar :flowers:. I wanted to ask your opinion on this vintage BBK.

1) Does the hardware, stamping, and zippers match those of a bag from 1966?
2) Do I have to be cautious about anything with a bag this old?
3) Do you think a trip to the spa will help restore its shine?

I would love your opinion! Thank you.

It does not look to be that old, says V stamp ,but does not say if in a circle or just a V, based on what I see I would say this bag is most likely going to V in a circle and if so, then would be from 1991? As to the shine certainly a good polish and buffng will bring up a mirror like shine in the right hands.
The bag looks good from here, I don't see anything (from here) that looks frightful in terms of cracking or wear that would compromise the strength of the bag.
Best of luck.:smile1:

Hi Doc,

Hope you can help I posted around this years ago.

I need to refurbish my Hermes wallet, the colour has come off a bit, I bought Zaphir concentrate and Canadian cream in Hermes red for this purpose.

I applied it once and it went a bit sticky, now the surface is a little sticky.

Please advise the best method and instruction to apply colour and get it looking good again.
