Hello! I have a question about a bag I am interested in that is 9 years old. It has a loose turnlock. I have been searching for the past 30 minutes for any mentions of loose turnlocks, but I can't find a definitive description/photo of what that means. Is this a deal breaker? Can it be fixed? From the photos of the bag, the turnlock looks normal. So when it is loose-- does that mean it is pulling away from the leather? I apologize for all of the questions, just trying to determine if I should invest in this bag or not.

I had a bag with one - the turn lock part (the piece that sticks out, not the plate in which it sits) "wiggled" up and down when you tried that with your fingers KWIM? Like it is coming loose. I sent the bag to H and they fixed it. I hope you know what I mean I am having a hard time explaining.

Thank you for attempting to explain it to me chessmont! :smile1: It was confusing but I understand now. I don't think it will impact me much since I don't plan to wear the bag with the straps closed much at all-- do there won't be any weight bearing on it. I was most worried if turnlock implied the square plate as well being loose from the leather, which I now know it doesn't.

Well, you don't know if in this particular case the plate is loose or not - why not ask the seller? I'm sure H cn fix that too.

hi i have a marc by marc jacobs natasha messenger bag in a very dark green which has started to produce faded patches alover, can anyone help with which is the best leather dye to buy or if there are any professionals that deal with such problems, im from the uk north east of england. thanks

Thanks Doc, I'm leaning towards Ardennes being similiar to Vache Leigee & Vache Trekking, since they are together in the same leather reference thread. The leather isn't dry at all.......I just wanted to know if I should condition it on a regular basis. Thanks for your help!! Teressa:smooch:
Clean and condition as needed..generally every 6 months for a bag used frequently.

And day to day grime can be clenaed off with a lexol PH leather wipe as needed.

these are some pics i took tonight hope this help. The white lines wasn't so obvious on the dark or night time, but when i bring out in the day or in the bright room the lines look so obvious and dry.

thank you so much doc

A good conditioning and high pigment colored polish will help make the lines less noticable.

There are many good polishes to choose from depending on where in the world you are.. Or just send the bag to Hermes Spa and they will do it for you.

Sorry mods insist on only Hermes leather questions being addressed here..
That said, try Woly or Magic products.. ask you local cobbler they can usually help you. Good luck.

Lincoln Stain wax polish in the correct color for your bag...should do the trick.
I am sorry but i wasn't able to tell from the photos what color your bag is black?Dark Brown? Dark Blue?
In any case, Loncoln Stain Wax should have a match for you...
Good luck.

this question is for Docride: I just purchased (have not received) an older ostrich birkin and I have a question. I have owned other ostrich and it is notorious for fading. Are there leather care products that are SAFE for ostrich that have sunscreen type properties?
