Hi Docride.

Just got this clutch on the bay -- should get it in a few days. The owner says the only damage (apart from some water stains) is a few rubbed places, few lifted scales, the rubbed detail in the front, and the cracks on the handle. She says that the leather itself is still supple, no rot anywhere, and has about 50 good quality photos on the listing, too.

What do you think about the condition -- do you think I will be able to do anything to it?

She has a 3 day return policy, so if it is in worse shape than she says I can return it. I don't expect that the darkening from the water damage can be removed and this is something I (think I) can live with.

Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Dagny

Dear Doc, I have a brand new rouge H box Kelly that was taken home 3 weeks ago, this morning I noticed a "crack" on the front flap.... Looks like it's from dryness, I gave the blackrock treatment twice and it s still there like a river meander, is that true that I really cannot do much about it?

I wanna cry... Haven't even used it yet....

Hello Doc,

Can you point me to the right post regarding how I can maybe clean the handles? Do I need to send this for treatment?

Thank you for your help!
Can't tell from here if that's dirt or color loss with oils or what... need a closer photo... Try wiping with a lexol PH leather wipe and then a dry towel is it improved? If not you may need some color work to correct the darkness..hence professional services or a DIY project with some matching colored polish and or a small amout of color dye to match...

A crack? Please explain what sort of crack...this is on the leather surface or on a seam? and this was on a new bag? Right from H? Better take that back to the boutique that shouldn't have happened..
Blackrock won't magically repair a crack it can only condition and make scratches look less intense. Standing by..send a photo..and hurry to H sounds like this might be a defect ...

Looks like a project,if not cracking you havd something you can work with.:smile1: Let me know how it goes.

think so.. i have all your fave products
Keep in mind you may need to clean all the panels to get an even result.
You will need Lexol PH leather wipes,a clean old white wash cloth, warm water a bunch of old white towels and a bath tub.
Use lexol Ph leather wipes to clean exterior.
Use a wash cloth wet with warm fresh water to wash the bag's panels evenly and gently don't get nuts and start rubbing the leather heavily thinking that's a good thing..It's not..
Pat the bag dry of excess water
Allow the bag to dry slowly at room temperature.
Stuff the bag lightly if needed and shape to correct shape...
Should be clean as a whilsle...

Dear Doc,

It's on the leather surface. I let the bag sit overnight after 2 applications of Blackrock and the next morning it improved. It seems more like a "wrinkle" to me now and it's shorter no longer like a river meander now.

I tried to bend the leather flap to the other side very gently and noticed the "wrinkle" disappeared when i did that so it does look like a wrinkle to me.

and yes, it's a new bag right from H just after X'mas, it has never been used because I'm still waiting for the Obenauf in the mail....:shucks: it was not exposed under the sun at all even if it's been staying at home, and the weather is not dry either.

looking at the photos, am i over-reacting? thanks a million Doc.

Hi, Looks like a regular slight bend or surface ripple possible in the hide itself or in the overspray color over the surface; this is not a crack nor is it a defect. You can by pass Obenauf and go directly to neutral polish annd buff the bag out then take it and enjoy it.
All the best,doc
