I've just booked my flights to Tokyo for next month! I'm so excited, it's always been on my bucket list. I might try my luck for a bag on one of the days, but that would be a bonus more than anything if so. Would love to get another Mini Lindy or Mini Constance, or in the land of dreams, a K or another B.
See you there in April 😀

Hi all, does anybody know if the Tokyo stores will offer bags to non locals if they’re willing to pre spend? I’m traveling to Tokyo next month and I’m hoping to get a b25. Willing to do pre spend of 1.5:1 as well. What do you think are my chances?
Close to zero. I have Japanese friends in Tokyo and it’s extremely difficult even for them.

Other's might have a different opinion, but personally I wouldn't recommend this at all. Tokyo has a completely different system from other markets which operates on a first come first serve basis. In my experience, you can just line up in the morning and then see what bags are available for purchase to non locals. Those bags may or may not include QB. You would have to be really fortunate to have one available, but I don't think spending there will make a bag magically appear at the end of the day. As far as spend over the course of a short holiday goes, all the Hermes stores in Japan are flooded with wealthy clients from other East Asian countries (mainly China) who are more than willing to drop excessive amounts of money in the hopes of getting a QB offer. Whether they do or not, I couldn't say. I did however notice the Ginza store stock is very low for most items (they couldn't show me a baseball cap cuz they were sold out of them all at Ginza Flagship). I also observed (I am relatively conversational in Japanese) that the store definitely prioritizes coveted items for their local JAPANESE clients, so I don't think spend would make enough of a difference for the money.

All this is to say: try for sure! I just don't think spending money will change the metric. Which is great! Maybe you'll get super lucky and find your dream bag during the morning line up!
For morning line up, is it just applicable to the ginza store?

Was just in Japan a few weeks ago stood in line an hour ahead of opening at Ginza store was the 4th person in line nothing available that was good none of us bought anything the person in front of me had been there all week and said low inventory but who knows maybe you will be luckier

Hello there, I'm a newcomer to this forum!
I'm Japanese and have been a H lover these 5 years(newbie, I know). I live in Tokyo.
My honest impression is, for at least this past year, bags (not even non-QB) have become very scarce in H stores.
As some people have observed, the 'display only' bags have become the norm, and I haven't seen many bags that you can buy freely at the store. (I think I saw one picotin and Lindy 26 last year, and the new canvas tote bags, but that was about it)
The Ginza, Omotesando, and Marunouchi store are probably your best bet as the sheer number of bags that will probably be allocated, but because there will be a higher percentage of people flocking to the flagship stores, it will probably be pure luck if you can get a bag. The department store shops usually have less stock, but because the customer number are a bit less, you MAY have a chance of finding something. (BTW Shinjuku Isetan is a very different story compared to other department store shops. I feel it's more close to a flagship store)
If I was visiting Tokyo and had free time, I would probably hit the Ginza store first, try Shinjuku Isetan and Omotesando, and if I had extra time would go around the department stores. But I think for the time being, the chance of getting a QB easily in Japan might not be realistic for now.
Hello dear, do you know how does it work to open a wish in Tokyo?
Do you have to reserve an appointment or you can make a wish on spot?
Thank you so much

As a Japanese local, I hadn't heard abut this store. Looked up their website, and it looks like it's solely targeting tourists and foreign customers (was mostly in English, the Japanese page was absolutely the bare bones minimum). Don't think it's sketchy, but at that price point I would definitely look elsewhere. At least I would at least try to find a more major store which would still make the price more easy to rationalize (I would feel more safe buying from a major store safety wise

Hi Dear ! Do you mind if I ask you how does the wishlist works in Tokyo for locals?
Do you have to make an appointment to place a wish for a bag? Or you can just walk in and ask to make one ? Thank you

Hi there! I can only speak from personal experience but TBH, I'm not sure if there is actually a 'wishlist' that is physically made, at least at the boutiques that I shop at.

I've luckily been with the same SA for a long time, and she knows what I'm interested in, but will check in every few months to see if there is any change in my preferences. We have never exchanged any physical memos or paperwork about what I want, the only physical stuff is the notes she scribbles when she's talking to me, nothing official.
So....at least from my experience, I don't think there is a wishlist you can write up in Japan, at least I've never seen any spoken about in Japanese Hermes blogs and the like. You can either visit the shops and luckily have the chance of buying a 'free' (as in free from RSVP'd bags for valued customers) bag, or build a relationship with an SA and hope they can get it for you, which is probably the norm for other Hermes shops in the world.

But, please take this with a grain of salt, because my main love is the scarves, and (gasp) bags have always been secondary to me. It results in me not that strongly invested in which/when the bags come in, which may make it a very different perspective/experience for people who are in for the bags.

Tokyo is such an amazing city (and a second home to me). The best time to visit is now through end of April and there is so much to see and do. My recommendation would be to not waste your time lining up at the Hermes stores there (my friends tell me the Japanese SAs are nearly not as friendly even to Japanese locals unless one has a long established history)!

I wonder if they will offer any quota bags for people lining up. It seems that they will reserve it to VIPs only. For that other person that had been there all week, it is hard to believe that they don't have any stores at the opening to offer, even non quota bags.

It will never be quota bags. I did the line up once at 9.30 am an hour before the opening time and I’m the 6th person. Then go straight to the bag department and line up again waiting for the 5 persons in front of me to decide if they are going to take the bag on offer that day or not. It goes to the next person if the bag still available. I dont think its worth the time and effort for it.
While you were waiting, did you know if the persons in front of you take the bag offer ? if so, do you know what bag it is ? Mind sharing what bags they showed you on the ipad ?
