Just got back from a trip, visited 6 stores, was able to get a herbag at the airport.

One word crazy! I've never seen any Hermes store this busy in any of my travels. Honestly I wasn't really planning on getting anything I just wanted to browse the stores and see how it's like in Japan, specially the Ginza store. If I get a bag lucky if not it's OK. And let me tell you clients there are wild! Specially the Chinese tourists! They were buying like it's a grocery store. I even saw a couple who bought furniture just to be offered a bag, but was turned down. It was that competitive.

Every store I went to I just asked outright If any bags were available, and of course no stocks on the more popular models but there are less desirable styles for sale. They show you on an iPad what bags are available, so you can easily decide if it's worth coming into the shops.

I can't say that lining up early will guarantee you a bag, but I got lucky at the airport even if it's just a herbag. There were 3 people ahead of me in the store already all were turned down when they asked for bags, so I was really surprised they offered me one when I asked, I feel like they were scanning who to sell to? I don't know, it's my first time trying in Japan.

If you're trying to score anything maybe start next year when the Christmas rush is over, even if you do get a bag it's really not such a nice experience battling the hoards of tourists in store in my opinion unless it's a qb and worth the hassle.

Very jealous of all you non-Japan residents right now. The Bank of Japan continues to allow our economy to take a nosedive, and the yen is essentially worthless. My household earning power dropped significantly. Converting my salary to USD is depressing, and I had to have my student loan provider adjust my monthly payments accordingly.

Inflation here is so bad. The yen went back down to 146 per $1 USD. I remember when it was 90 yen to $1 USD just a few years ago!!

No luxury for me for a while. It's so bad that I'm considering moving back to the US where wages are higher.

as mentioned in my previous post, I scored a bag in Narita airport, but SA did not get my details or anything I just assumed he recorded my name thru my credit card when I paid. Was just wondering does this mean I have a purchase history in Japan now? Or still none since he did not get my info?

Airport stores are concession stores that aren't connected to the H boutiques. In short, no there isn't a profile for you in Japan.

planning a trip to japan in month and wanted any insight or info on getting a B 25 or B30 or K 25 or 28 any help would be appreciate as I've been trying in the states and wondering if its even worth trying when I'm on my trip thanks

Not worth trying at all for quota bags. You are going to waste your time. Pre-spend is required for quota bags everywhere around the world except Paris and prioritised local clients. Better enjoy the cities, culture and their amazing food 😊

You can walk into the Ginza store and they will show you bags that are available. That is the only store that does not require a prespend in Japan. But you do have to line up before the store open to get first dibs on the bags. When you enter the store, they will give you a number and then head up to the leather goods level. The SAs will show you what bags are available on an iPad. When I went in November, there was nothing good at all. They had the mens canvas bags and that was it. That was the only day I lined up for bags, I felt that I should just enjoy the trip instead of obsessing over bags.

At the Haneda airport, I did ask if there's any bags available, and the SA told me that the only bag they had was the Della Cavalleria. I did not like the leather so I did pass on that.

Good luck!

It will never be quota bags. I did the line up once at 9.30 am an hour before the opening time and I’m the 6th person. Then go straight to the bag department and line up again waiting for the 5 persons in front of me to decide if they are going to take the bag on offer that day or not. It goes to the next person if the bag still available. I dont think its worth the time and effort for it.

I agree! It's not worth the time, might as well enjoy the rest of Japan
