I previously wrote about my H vintage shopping in the latest purchase thread. I figured I should also share it here!

New-to-me box calf k28 blue indigo ghw! My bag is from 1994, in excellent condition, and I couldn’t say no to the price. It was 539,000 yen after tax refund! Using google's converter, that's less than $5k usd~

I highly recommend a visit to Namba if you ladies are ever in Osaka. Dotombori has almost 10 vintage stores within a few blocks of each other. The stores sell both vintage and brand new bags. The brand-new bags very over-priced, but that shouldn’t matter because many TPF-ers already have a good relationship at their home store. There are plentiful vintage and even limited-edition bags. I saw a boxcalf Evelyne tpm, MICRO bolide, b25 in grey lizard, k25 sellier lizard, leather + toile Kelly— to name a few

The websites on pg 1 of this thread are very helpful if you're overseas. Keep in mind that it doesn't reflect all their inventory! I specifically asked the sales ppl if I'd be able to find XX (that I see in the store) online and they said no. It's always a good idea to stop by in person.

I was in Japan and decided to drop by a few stores. I think those who scored BKC must either speak the language or have already established purchase history or must be extremely lucky to be offered a bag in Japan. After all there’s so many reseller stores and rich local clients.
There is a language barrier and even those speaking English will chitchat but will politely advise no bags, it doesn’t matter if you’re wearing H from head to toe or not.
But it’s awesome to check out the reseller stores, crazy amount of bags although I was hesitant because of superfakes

This is my experience as well. The sales can’t really speak English and are just doing their jobs. No SAs comment on any H items I wore and in fact seem to have little interest in having a conversation with me or hubby. It’s quite different from my experience shopping in Europe so I think it’s not just the language barrier. I went to multiple stores and they either told you no bags or expected you to make 1:1 purchase.

I think in Japan there are a few lucky nonlocal ladies getting offered coveted bags with no history with the store, but you can’t count on that unless you think you’ll get extremely lucky.
What I like about japan is that you can visit the second hand stores to try on different colors and sizes. And I saw quite a few limited edition bags in those stores so it’s so much worth of a visit.

Thank you for the information. I appreciate it.

I just got back from Tokyo and let me tell you. Those stores are stocked compared to California! I stood in line at Ginza to buy a Birkin but they only received one that morning and I was #3 in line. Of course the first person bought it. It was a 35 in Gris. I ended up getting a 35 in black Togo for a decent price from a 2nd hand shop. I did buy 8 twillys and 2 pairs of shoes from Ginza. Thank you. This information was very helpful!

Hi! Anyone know if the Ginza store receives deliveries on weekends? Was planning to line up in the morning and hoping to score a B or K there, but my trip to Tokyo happens to be from Friday to Tuesday. Thanks!

I have had the opposite experience at the Ginza store a few years ago. I had an SA commented how he loved the color of my Bleu Zanzibar GP. I think it is partly due to language barrier. I am nowhere near fluent in Japanese but I know enough to hold a basic conversation. Once he realized I could speak some he opened up.
