Seriously these so called important people are a bunch of insecure wannabes anyways. . U go and make your presence known!
Aw, thanks for the encouragement! Maybe I will, if I'm feeling especially assertive one day in May! I appreciate your words.

I could meet you there and we could go in together to let them know what NE Hermes clients are really about!

^^^You both are sweet; thank you. I have actually seen both of you gorgeous gals IRL, and you are WAY more put together on a daily basis than I am on my best day. But I could follow behind you and carry your shopping bags!Seriously, Greenwich scares me. Once my DH and I crossed the street there on our own initiative (it must have been a safe move, because we both survived and weren't arrested or ticketed or anything), and a gentleman (not a policeman, not any authority figure, just a passer-by) stopped us on the sidewalk to inform us that "It is customary here in Greenwich to await the permission of the traffic officer before crossing the street." Yup, we were publicly shamed by a complete stranger for not knowing the behavior codes of the Greenwich main street. I have never felt comfortable there since that day. I know, I shouldn't have taken it seriously, but honestly! What an experience.
EB is so right! Maybe 20 or 30 years ago Greenwich (old families, not new hedge fund) was part of a very interesting and most often elegant society. I cannot even imagine someone from that walk of life making such a condescendingly stupid comment - speak of RUDE! Even today, a real gentleman would have offered you his arm, and said something like: "well welcome to our town, if you want to avoid a ticket......etc"....................so this moron, happened to buy some real estate in Greenwich and is now the King of Greenwich (there was a movie by that name). geez UNIVERSE, give this guy something to do with his time....... maybe a little challenge.............the TPF'ers have more than enough things to share.................. hmpfh!...................lets offload.....^^^You both are sweet; thank you. That's quite an innacurate generalization!
The remark was just that, a generalization, and the intent of the poster was to encourage me not to feel inferior to those who swan about by reminding me that just because someone looks or acts like All That on the outside doesn't mean they are all that great on the inside--they may be, but it ain't necessarily so. I feel confident that the poster didn't mean to suggest that any particular fabulous person wasn't actually fabulous, just that not every fabulous person is actually fabulous, IYKWIM. So, no individual fabulous person need be offended.
I hope you will find the courage to try being in Greenwich again without being nervous about the culture! I am sure the Hermes store will be very welcoming at the opening. I imagine lots of CT customers who have long relationships with NY SA's will just stick with them.
Thanks, L-Girl, and I will try! My confidence waxes and wanes, but I definitely am in a better place now than I was years ago, so there's hope!
