they're open today. there is a tent across the street in a park with treats: lemonades, candies, cookies, popcorn, balloon artist, face painter, etc... very geared towards kids and families. you need a bracelet to get in but it was a wonderful way to enjoy the gorgeous day.

the store... really well done, good layout, great display cases.

the goods... lots of bags going out the door... some bare shelves by the time i got there although a 30 Emerald croc B with diamonds was still around.

Do you know if there is anything made special for the store? Hope more members can dare any goodies they manage to score.

I just got back. Inside, the store is a long narrow space where the scarves, shawls, enamels, leather, horn jewelry, etc. are. The bags, menswear, shoes, and gold/silver jewelry, baby things, etc. are located in a larger area in the back. The store is about 5,000 sq. ft, but I think because of the layout, it didn't look that big to me.

I couldn't wait to get there so I arrived early before they cut the ribbon. The store opened at 10. Robert Chavez was there, so pictures were being snapped of every little thing. The party across the street started at 12. It was really for the kids, but there were drinks (not of the adult kind ;)), candy and a few things to nosh on. I had my face painted, and of course that ensured that I would run into people who know me, right? :p

Olive519, who I already knew, and MillStream, who I met for the first time, were there and we had nice time chatting. The weather was absolutely perfect. I didn't recognize anyone else I know from the forum. Besides the dip dye ribbon bracelets they gave out as our admission to the party, there were no free giveaways. The SAs told me there were no special edition scarves issued for this store.

There was a cocktail party the night before down at the harbor. I didn't get an invitation to it, but I overheard people talking about a few things. If anyone went, please let me know if you got any gifts!!

The stock was very good and after being there an hour there were already a few empty shelves. Here are a few things I remember:

CDC cuff completely paved in white diamonds
Galop bracelet in white gold with diamonds on the ring and the head
Galop necklace GM in silver
A bright yellow (not sure of the exact color) croc Kelly pouchette
Red croc Kelly wallet - again, I don't know the exact color
Astrologie Perfore GM
Chasse en Inde mousseline stoles in purple and orange
Cabags in etoupe and orange
MM and PM Garden Party bags in rouge casaque
Toolbox in Mais gator
Lots of clic clacs, enamels, horn and leather jewelry
There was an orange croc CDC in the morning, which was sold quickly and replaced by an amethyst one. That's probably sold by now, too.
Lots more things but I don't feel like typing any more. ;)

They have A LOT of things in the back, but you have to ask for something specific.

The manager was previously manager of the Madison Ave. store, and Lydia from Madison Ave is now an SA there. The staff was VERY nice and helpful. I was hoping to find a Graff pochette, but they didn't have any, and there's nothing else I have to have at this moment.

The store is in a space which was formerly a children's store owned by Tommy Hilfiger's wife. If I didn't know it was already there, I would think the façade and arched windows were designed specifically for Hermes. It's absolutely perfect for them.

thanks for update! sounds like FUN! did you ever go to best + co? such cute baby clothes, some prices crazy but very well made! so happy to hear the store looked so pretty! it was so stunning before, i was worried they might make it too modern! did they change the dark wood inside?

a friend of mine went to dinner but all i heard from her sister was that it was fun - her sister is huge H B nut, i lost count - no mention of goodies just another confirmation that there was no scarf......:nogood:

how handsome is chavez?? popped into my H one day and he was there - he is super nice and actually helped me pick out a scarf to go with a pico i was getting!!

sounds like you had a great time! :D

Yes, I went to Best & Co. a few times. It was a beautiful store. The wood inside the store now is the same lighter color as in all the Hermes stores.

Chavez IS VERY handsome, although very aloof. I talked to him briefly about how perfect the building and location is for Hermes. He said they feel very lucky the opportunity came up and when it did, they jumped on it.

It was fun today. Besides this one, I never get invitations to Hermes special events, so I enjoyed "my moment" very much!

Thank you so much for all the wonderful details of this very special opening!

Here's a fuzzy phone pic I took before the ribbon cutting.

that prob helped them to stay but I believe they have a contract with H for a certain amount of years.....from what I know they do not want any franchise boutiques any longer - cant say I blame H as why just receive a percentage when they are in such an amazing position with earnings and such.....

in fact without neiman marcus, we prob would never have Kermit Oliver scarves....

on the other hand I've been told that from present to 5 years, all other luxury goods will be in leased spaces in dept stores - Gucci, Prada, Chanel and LV just to name a few.....

Do you know if they're actually planning to close them all?

Sounds amazing!!! Lovely to hear you had a nice time  :hugs:

Thanx for forwarding me back to this discussion. Did not think - Hermes to open had continued to it being opened. Key words I guess- did not think.
Happy to hear Lydia is there. Bought 2 Trims and a Kelly from her plus scarves and wallets. Nice lady, very kind , patient and 100% professional.
Much nicer to drive to Greenwich than NYC to shop.
