Yea, seriously!! Croc birkin's should be waterproof!! ;)

I'm with you on that KellyB, I'm always shocked when I hear the birkin crocs being sold at those amazing prices from resellers!! You really can buy a house with that amount of money! A new car or two as well! It's just mind blowing!

I heard that a croc birkin was selling for over 100K at one reseller... that's just insane! To me at that point - the Birkin no longer functions as a real purse but more of a iconic art piece not made for carrying. I'd be so afraid of scratching, bumping, ... the birkin - just anything that would compromise the bag... That would be more stress for me carrying it!! :nuts:

I don't get it either yeliab. Why is it that croc is not waterproof when the whole animal lives in the water half the time?

I've seen an amethyst croc birkin with diamonds one time in the H Vancouver store so I asked my SA how much it was and she said it costs CDN $180,000! I jokingly asked her if they throw in a free armoured car delivery service.

She said "no". Not even a bodyguard to get it home.

ITA, yelialab, ernskie! But I am aghast whenever I even scrape my new to me 32 barenia HAC. (I set it down on my bathroom floor and scraped the front of the bag with the doorjamb; was like :shocked:; rubbed most of it out; promised myself I would never be so careless ever again; and, then, did it two more times. Gah!!

OMG 880! You have a HAC Barenia??? I love, love, love Barenia and I hope someday I'll own a 40 HAC in Barenia or 50 HAC in Barenia-toile combo.

Don't worry so much about it. I was like that when I got my Steve bag and was over-protective with it. It was scratched the first time and I had no idea how it happened. I think I lost sleep over it and after that, I scratched it a few times even with my newly-trimmed nails. I think that's the beauty of Barenia though, the beautiful patina over time, even the scratches makes it very pretty.

880, I just read a recent post that Barenia's are back in production... strange that it was posted in '07 though... I was on a website that sold used birkins, etc... all of their Barenia's were SOLD out!! Oh well... SIGH! I can definitely identify with you!!! One scratch... Ah! :faint:

Yes, there's a tPFer here who has a few diamond croc Birkins -- Vernilover. In fact, she has a collection of H croc items and she has great pictures of them. She also has an H bike. She has tons of Chanel and LV items too.

Yeah, that's an old posting. Barenia is still pretty scarce so they're highly sought after. The thing is even if I find something in Barenia that I would love to have, I have to save up for it since I just don't have the money lying around to afford it.

good luck all actually... i've saved and sold stuff to fund my haddiction and because i can only afford preloved (i'm a more the merrier kind of girl) there's a sense of urgency because there'll always be that HG birkin or kelly in the stores but when it's preloved, that's the only one at that price~

there's this particular reseller (can i say who?) who is really trustworthy and very nice. she's definitely getting more business from me!

Ernie, Interesting. Too bad there wasn't something you could put on Croc where it wouldn't damage the bag, and it would be waterproof.

yb, I know there's many ladies (and gents) here with beautiful collections. I doubt they carry those kinds of bags out and about. I'd keep it in safety deposit box myself.

Im so sad..my Kelly is away at the Spa ~ they sent her to Paris and she wont be back for up to 6 months...I miss her so much, as I had just recieved her before she had to be sent away (its a vintage bag)..yesterday I went shopping on Madison and she would have looked perfect with my outfit :crybaby: if only i had another but shes my only one!! and shes cream so i wont be able to wear her again in NY until next summer..i better start saving for a black one:sos:thanks for letting me share I know my fellow bag nuts will understand :hugs:

PrincessMe oh dear what a long wait but imagine how gorgeous she'd be when she returns! i'd wear a cream kelly during winter as well. it'll stand out so well against the typical winter choices of black and grey outfits. goes lovely with autumnal brown and reds too ;)
