Wise words all around-- thank you! Funny you should mention blue, because that's always been a go-to color for me, and was the predominant color in my collection for the first few years of my scarf-buying. Then I started self-flagellating over having too much blue and culled a lot of my blue 90s. Now I have barely ANY blue, and I miss it-- it was silly to ration a favorite color.

I see what you mean with your Equateur analysis too, wrt the foliage. I need to take a look at the other colorways and allow myself the chance to fall in love rather than just getting fixated on the green!

Hahha well then, I have the perfect equateur colorway for you (and the one I have my heart set on)

no green! You need more of your favorite color [emoji6]

I nabbed a few scarves off the European site before the holidays to beat the price increase. I've only just picked them up yesterday since I was away during the break. In the meantime, I'd had a chance to try on a few colorways of Peonies while out of town, and was convinced that I'd be sending back the one I ordered. Much as I loved the idea of it, the colorways I was trying on let the mystical cityscape fade into the background, leaving the peony petals looking a bit too literal for my tastes. I LOVE peonies, and think flower petals look fantastic with some people's style, but garland-of-petals just doesn't work with what I'm wearing these days.

So I was shocked and very pleased to find that colorway 04 of Pivoines reads very differently on me than the others have! The dreamy and mysterious fantasy city is rendered in a purpley blue and jumps off the pale peachy-rose background. The flower parts are actually neon, which gives them a wonderful eccentricity that's as far from photo-real as can be, but the neon is tempered by the softness of the background. If you've been trying on Pivoines and having the same reaction I have to it, I definitely recommend giving this color a go.

Next surprise for me: Equateur in the washed silk, which I was sure I would be keeping. I've always loved this pattern, although I've never owned a scarf in it. I have the Tatouage heels and Apple watch band, and have been eyeing the wallpaper as well. Pattern I love + a colorway that looks like the lovechild of eau de nil and menthe seemed like an obvious win for me, but... turns out I don't love how it ties. Tying it just doesn't change it much; no matter what I do, it's a ring of animals, albeit enchanting ones. In a bias fold, I don't think they show quite enough for impact. I do like how they look draped loosely over the shoulders in a triangle, but I don't wear scarves that way very often. This one is probably going back, although the colorway is hard to give up. However, for those whose style better suits the way this ties, the colors and the feel of the silk are dreamy.

The pic in the box is truest to the real color on my screen.

Finally, Animapolis. I found this scarf charming flat, but didn't even try it on when I saw it during the holidays; I have a fraught history with super-detailed tiny-scale patterns. Kluska's modeling shot and story persuaded me I needed to give it a go anyway, and I was delighted with how well this semi-finesse colorway works for me. I don't love that it's the same "palette" as the Pivoines-- seriously, these regimented palettes, UGH HERMES-- but the pattern has charmed me enough that I'm going to try to put that out of my head. It'll stop me from getting any more designs in this color set, however, no matter how cool they may turn out to be.

One thing I really like about Animapolis is that it creates different looks when folded on its alternate biases. When I tried the Equateur, a TPF friend with me commented that Dallet probably didn't really think about how the design would look tied in different ways, which I think is a solid conjecture. Animapolis is the opposite; it's MEANT to be worn and it transforms according to each knot. Not everyone wants or needs that from a scarf, but it's definitely a selling point for me.

These choices are so pretty and the explanation of your thought process so clear.

I have the same reservations about Pivoines, the mythical cityscape is the artist's forte. Hoping the 'bronze' or another cw 'gap' in my wardrobe will work. I already have the Bleu Glacier Casandre JdC scarf. In design they're nothing alike but the JdC punches the softness better with the blk/red/wht more than the overall pastel effect of this season's BG offering. Anyway, I think that's the one I've ordered.

The border and regularity of Equateur concerned me too but this is how lots of the H scarves used to be. The 'peach' and eau de nil/menthe lovechild are still in the running although the price of these washables may make me kick it to the curb if it's not perfect.

Animapolis has the best and most thoughtfully considered colourations. Obviously that's either where the 'push' is or the talent. It's busy, but I felt the same about Act III last season, reducing the contrasts between shades, hues or saturation intentity blends the action and makes it wearer friendly.

The Equateur looks so good, with the minty background the parrots really pop. You considered it as a wallpaper, you like the scarf, but not how it ties, so put it on a wall...
thanks for the reviews and the abundance of pictures, a true quality post!

I like Dallet so much that I could not resist...
I do not mind the wide border, I like very much old designs.

I love the way that looks around your neck! I never would have thought it would be that beautiful IRL. I hadn't even considered it in that color way until just now. The vivid blues and purples and light greyish white color. Stunning.

Yep! If there is a reference number in the list, pics have been posted here. And doing a search in this thread can do wonders (but being a veteran here you already know this of course). ;)

How kind of you to point that out. [emoji6] Being so busy here sometimes I forget what I have already seen!

I love hearing these thoughtful reactions from a seasoned scarfie! Thanks so much for taking the time. The pink Pivoines attracted me from the carre club event, but it has yet to appear on the US website or at a boutique near me. Drat. Your pix are gorgeous and I am anxious to see it IRL. The nearly finesse version of Animopolis really elevates the design, I agree. I still feel OK giving it a pass. Thanks again for your helpful pix and info!

Thank you! I'm still torn about the Equateur, I have to admit! I need to try it on a few more times before making a firm decision. I hope you find yours soon-- H so rarely does that particular shade of sea-turquoise in silk and it's just stunning. See, I'm already talking myself back into it....
I agree about that color. SOOO special. What color family is this? Maybe we can make H's rigidity work for us.

I agree completely that the bronze Pivoines is incredibly special, and it'll be superb with your coloring. I'd have been banging on the door at H every hour on the hour myself to get my paws on it if one of my most loved 90s, Indian Dust, didn't have an incredibly similar colorway. But for those who don't have a competitor in the scarf drawer (or those who don't mind a little friendly competition amongst scarves), that bronze Pivoines is an amazing opportunity. Other than the Indian Dust I mentioned, I can't think of when else H has produced that color.

I like Dallet so much that I could not resist...

Oh my! @monteverdi, is the middle part kind of silvery-beige, or is that an illusion created by my computer screen? I agree with what others have said, seeing photos of this instead of the H website pics really shows its depth. @hannahsophia, I think you're right that this color way is a stunner!

The background color is no pure white, but slightly creamy. On the other hand, there are patches of pure white on the animals, this is what makes the contrast on my picture, slightly enhanced by the flash.
