In the UK I wasn't charged a penny! I took it to Paris personally (as I was already going there) after letting my store know they made sure Paris were expecting me when I dropped it in, it was pampered and then they shipped it back to my UK address

In BH they quote you a high price but usually it costs less - I spa'd my Clemence Birkin there and they were very strong on the phone that it could be $300 or more (I think they want to discourage spa). In the end it was only $175 and only took 2 weeks but they didn't do a very good job - it has corner scuffing that was back in a few days.
I recently dropped off a silver CDC for polishing and while I was there decided to spa my chevre Kelly Longue wallet (yes, they spa small leather goods). That only cost $75 and they replaced the hardware free of charge (it had been a little off, so much for H perfection!). I haven't picked it up yet so I am not certain how good of a job they did....wallets get a lot of handling :)
I would love to take that Birkin to Paris and see if they can really do a good job....

Update - DH picked up my wallet yesterday and the clasp was CROOKED....they put the hardware on wrong! I was kind of shocked that they missed it - it was noticeably off. Before it hadn't closed properly...now it's actually lopsided. Needless to say it's back in their hands - I really hope it is not another 6 weeks!!!

Congratulations!! You must have been over the moon!! :smile1:

Talking about H spa, it depends on the bag's condition. My last H spa visit was my vintage H Epsom bag with scratches all over. It costed $200 and it took 2.5 months. It came back looks polished and sheen. The scratches are much lesser but they didn't touch inside though. They never touch up inside the bags.. I hope this helps..:smile1:

Just to chime in if any of you are interested in doing a spa or repair for exotic (Porosus croc in this case), this is the quote I received from FSH:

· To clean: 254 €.
· To replace the handle: 719 €.
TOTAL: 973 €
Repair time needed: 7 weeks upon receipt of your confirmation.

The associate who I have been communicating with is very responsive and very helpful to say the least. I have yet to see the result, but I have been very satisfied till this point. They genuinely made me believe they treasure their craftsmanship.

Can you ship items to H for spa treatment? I don't live anywhere near a boutique, so I would have to ship or plan a trip around an H spa location.
Yes, you can ship to H spa but be aware that there has been incidents where bags were "never received". I would personally hand it over on my next trip to a H boutique and get a recipt. I spoke with Claude a couple of wks ago and he said that people come from around the world just to drop off their bags in person these days. That's why there is currently a 2 month turnover time at madison.

Thanks, Seton!
I'm always happy for an excuse to visit NY...and Madison...:graucho:
If I drop it off in person, will they ship it to me after the spa treatment?

I'll just say that they use to and that I would expect it if I was a regular customer. There has been so many changes in policy recently that I dont want to say for sure. :smile1:
