That is unheard of!!! Your friend got quite lucky! I would see if she could log into H to see if a BIrkin was waiting in her basket :)

Might I add that you are a great friend for taking the bag in for her so if she miraculously acquires a B, she should offer it to you :)

I thought I would post my latest spa experience here as it is quite uplifting.

To date I have only use the spa for stitching and resin repairs as I am able to clean bags myself. However, I was given a 40 Birkin by a friend and she wanted me to find a new home for it. Well, the turn lock had broken off and was missing, one of the strap latches was completely missing and the rest of the hardware had corroded. Other than that the buffalo leather was immaculate. I prepared my friend for a hefty bill just to get it into a saleable condition. Well, last week I got a call saying that H Paris deemed the hardware defective and they were replacing it free of charge. They were also replacing both straps. As the leather was in such good condition the hardware had to have been faulty for it to break and corrode. I never even considered that would be an option.

Free of charge at Hermes?!!! I still can't believe it. Oh, and they said it would be cleaned FOC too.

I was feeling so lucky I popped into H.com to see if a Birkin was sitting in my basket......not that lucky:)
The wallet where the HW was replaced actually only went in for cleaning and same thing...H deemed HW not good enough (I had not even noticed anything) and replaced free of charge!

It does happen. Now let's see what happens with my Birkin where there is resin over the stitching :crybaby:

Hi Everyone! I wanted to let you know that I dropped off my bag at the Madison Ave store today. I just bought my bag on ebay and it needed some resin repair. The bag is from 2010 but in very good condition save for the resin corners that needed to get fixed. A woman in a white lab coat examined it and took my information down on a form. She said for the resin repair, it would be no charge and take about a week. I was surprised and she said that if it needed more work, then there was a waiting list for that. But for this small thing she said it wouldn't take long. Also I asked about polishing the hardware, and she said they do not buff the hardware, and the scratches will remain. I will let you know in a week how it made it back!!

About how much does Hermes charge for a spa treatment, and how long until I get my beloved bag back? I just purchased an "eggplant aubergine chamonix 35cm Kelly from Portero. I spoke to them directly after looking at the pics and it does have some minor scuffs on front and back from daily use. No deep scratches. If it was a car it would be buffed and then be perfect. I would like to send it for a spa treatment but am afraid what the cost might be. Any ballpark guesses? So excited- I have been searching for this bacg for 3 years now! :yahoo:
It depends on your bags condition. It can range from 150 to 1000

hermès Rome, yesterday quotes for a togo k35 in quite good condition: €200 for general cleaning and polishing; €240 for 4 corners improvement plus small re-stitching. declined cleaning, accepted fixing.

That's amazing, and I'm so glad that you shared your great experience with H spa! Thanks.

Hi Hermes lovers

I am new to H. Wanting to get a vintage Kelly 28 Box in Sellier.
May I ask if H can replace a strap and locks and keys if buyer has lost it.

It is a genuine one -- would Hermes accept it for a spa and restoration of corners and from scratches.

I know this question may have been asked before.

I would really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

Hermes can replace these items, although you may wait a very long time for the strap to appear, perhaps it may never appear.

Hermes needs to see the bag to allow you to buy the lock and key and order a strap.

They will certainly be able to restore corners and try to minimize scratches on an authentic Kelly bag.

I am sending in my 1959 Kelly Croc for treatment. I inherited it from my grandmother so it has no papers. Does Hermes send back any type of authentication papers?
A spa receipt is as close as you'll get to authentication papers. Hermes will refuse to spa any bag that is not authentic.

It took 5 months for my bag to be cleaned at a cost £180, though they tried to charge me £211 at first, I told them that my estimate had been £180, after some frantic calls to the manager and various other staff they suddenly realised that they had not converted the charge from euros to pounds!
Three days later I got a phone call from my sa apologising for the mix up and offering me the kelly bag that I had requested!

Light bulb! I suddenly have an evil plan in my head to make my SA feel guilty!!!

Just yesterday, I just got a price confirmation/list for repairs on a vintage box kelly. What I found surprising is they mentioned things that could be fixed that were inside the bag, I've heard they don't go inside as it's considered 'private space'. That being said, they stated the following, in CDN$ for some services:

$213 for polishing and cleaning
$790 for handle replacement
$96 for top flap restitch
$28 per one corner reinforce (still stiched but they are loose)
$306 for closure strap replacements
$136 for zipper replace inside
$172 for gusset (side panel) restitch

Interestingly, some of the areas they mention for fixes weren't of concern to me; I didn't outline those as repairs. It was also stated on the repair form that they will endeavor to complete within 8 weeks but it could be longer.

Some of the prices I've listed might be slightly off, I didn't get a hard copy, plus I only opted for a few of the fixes, not all, but I'm certain of the top four. And for the handle replacement, I thought it less expensive to buy a twilly. They also caveat that since the color I have is no longer produced, there might be color differentiations which is why I decided again the closure straps which I think is a really reasonable price. Plus I'd lose the orginal craftman and date stamp.

So can update when I get it back to see about the timeframe of the repairs.

Hi all... My bag has finally returned! I gave it to Hermes on February 27th, got a price estimate April 15th and got the call to get her today! One thing I wanted to note, all prices I listed are in Euro, not Canadian, a bit of a surprise when I picked it up.

But they did a great job restitching the flap and corners and they reglazed all edges. The only slight disappointment was paying for the cleaning and polishing. At $213 Euro, it looked no different than what I do following Docride's method. I was curious about their polishing, now I know, but likely won't pay for that in the future. The bag is 'P' so for 1960, it's got some issues but looks better now. Sorry I don't have any before pics of the corners...
