am considering taking the plunge and getting into the hermes game.. but i wonder how "slowly" can i accumulate my spendings and whether people have seen the spending quota shift significantly during the time they were in the game? i'm not keen to spend for the sake of qualifying for a QB, so i would rather wait for the items i like to be back in stock and purchase when available... but it seems to me that even for the non-bag items, people get ghosted and may not be able to buy in the end? it's scary to enter the game, esp when you're not sure whether you'll really be getting anything out of it! i'm also thinking of pacing myself really slowly... like about $1-2K spending each month max.. but it will take me about 1 year to even reach the minimum spend required, before i can queue for a QB. :(

lastly, HOW DO YOU TELL IF THE SAs ARE GOOD OR NOT? i did walk in before but the SA then although friendly just straight up told me they don't do min. pre-spending so the convo ended as soon as it started. i'm really not sure how people found the good SAs and how can you tell if you vibe with them ornot? I think most of them are quite good at pretending to be nice and friendly =x
You can see the reseller prices to gauge the prespend needed. I find it quite accurate especially for prices from Luxlexicon. They are most up to date with the prespend requirement and factor that in their selling prices too.

I’ve been a silent reader…Very recently I was chatting with someone, ex SA who spilled a bit of the beans on the craziness they have to deal with.

Super demanding customers who text every day, even few times a day, reminding them of their wish lists, chiding them for being off on weekends or holidays, tabulating a list of items they purchased that tracks to their Pre spend, questioning the SAs on cheating them with a ‘prespend Amt’ yet not giving them the QBs after hitting the amt and the list goes on…..

This ex SA told me they don’t earn any comm on bags - quota or not, and every request they put in on behalf of the customers may sometimes get them scolded by SM, esp when the ‘purchases’ are not to the criteria (which is ever changing). Though they do want to help the customers fulfill their dreambags, esp good customers who treat them with respect. But its also a toxic work environment, they have super demanding customers, long hours (replying chats after hours), no proper toilet or meal breaks, unsupportive superiors, and best of all, if any customers complain even the least bit, the SAs are the ones who get the brunt of things. I heard one SA who allowed video of an unboxing of a Quota bag was given warning letter.

And they really have super Low levels of inventory, hence they have to pace out the customers’ purchases, if you buy and hit prespend very quickly, but you have to wait 6-9months before getting the bag (for various reasons like specs), nobody would be happy. Hence to pace out appts, purchases and fulfilling of pre-spend is the only way to go….

This kind of toxicity only drives good SAs to go…. Sad but true….

So with this journey, let’s also try to put ourselves in the shoes of the SA. (Ha this post makes me sound like Im an SA writing to defend SAs lol I honestly am not)

I started the journey last yr only, after realising doing it overseas just simply doesn’t cut it, especially when I heard of the global monitoring system which limits your QB to only 1 a yr regardless of where in the world u buy it from…. If that’s the case then might as well buy it here and support SG economy. I met a really nice SA who helped so much in my journey, without which I wouldn’t be able to the get 1st QB. But it takes a lot of patience…..

wishing everyone good luck with their journey!
Thank you for sharing all these insights! I wish there is a way to pin your comment as it is so useful for newbies and some of us to remind ourselves once in a while that SAs are also humans just like all of us. They need a life outside of fulfilling our bag wishes too.

By the way, anyone waiting for their QB now after hitting pre-spend and how long have you been waiting?
Yes.: been waiting and it has been about 5 months? But disclaimer.. could have gotten my qb as soon as 1 month. Just that I didn’t accept the suggested specs. As much as we discuss here, there will be comparisons.. some customers will then ask their sa why not this why not that. Why this customer can get this and that.. it’s never fair I have to say. There can be customers who spend more but have poorer outcome. Bottom line is the chemistry with your sa. Treat them nicely with respect as a member just shared earlier. And of course some element of luck is required.

May I know if anyone had requested for a mini E this year and how long did it take before you got your hands on one after being put down on the list for the bag? I haven't been waiting for long but it's been quite discouraging seeing many people reselling their brand new pieces from local boutiques on carousell  Thank you!

I've been waiting for about 5 months and still waiting. Could also be due to the colour which I've requested thus the long wait...

Hi ladies, is it just me or do MBS and Taka seem to have a lot of items? Or are they mostly just for display only (including non bag items)? I always walk past the stores but never bother to go in because the queue is hours long :whut: so just curious about this because from what I read on the forum it seems like a lot of items are out of stock
Yes a lot of items are out of stock. Doesn’t matter if you are a regular, clients are just swiping things the moment they see something. I was looking at a necklace just over the weekend and the moment i put it down it was bought. To say that there is a craze now is an understatement. Decided to order and place a deposit instead that day.

I heard that there were stern warnings to SAs not to mention pre-spend, not even acknowledge there’s such thing, and just give standard answer of asking customers to just buy what they like…. Otherwise the SAs get reported and lose their job…..

Yup, pre-spend is not a guarantee, there are people who believe that spending exactly 15k or something gets a BKC, sometimes it happens, other times it doesn’t. If the bag comes, it will come. Just a matter of patience.

Haven’t bought a mini evelyne in the last 7 years but first 3 years I got quite a few mini Evelyns. Usually with all hermes items, the allocation isn’t high hence it’s always an issue to spread it around existing clients. Buying from HERMÈS today is different from pre-covid, demand way greater than supply.

Shopping at Hermes or any other brands should be an enjoyable experience. At the end of the day I feel customers should understand Hermes is a business but that should not deter us from visiting the boutiques. It does not hurt to be nice your SA or any other SA you come across at the boutiques. In fact I think it is not too much to ask for anyone to be kind and respectful to one another. It brightens the day for everyone.

Just want to share how luck plays a role. Visited the boutique last Thur to look at cape cod watches but only 1pc was was available. Visited again last Sat to buy that watch but then it was sold already. So I was supposed to wait for the watch customization to buy a new watch until my SA showed me this. I already liked this pc way way back but never thought I could still buy one since it was seasons ago I believe. My SA said it just arrived the day before. :girlsigh:

It’s very much easier said than done. I can understand why it’s a frustrating experience for customers and SAs.

imagine a walk in customer already hanging out on a virtual q for over 3 hours….finally able to get into the boutique to meet a black face SA who already told a number of customers no, they don’t have anything that the customer wants. At that point, she just wants to go for lunch or knock off.

Actually, for those who wants to start building profile now. This is the situation.

Hermes published their Q1 2022 financial results. Not so surprisingly, Sales from Asia crossed the 50% mark of global sales. Sustained contribution from Thailand, Singapore and Australia from last year.

No way it is gonna be easy for freshies or newbies. I really hope that anybody who is starting now realises this.

Thank you for sharing this, I am on my 8th year with my H journey in SG and before I found my SA, I tried all 4 stores (Scotts branch closed down). and finally found my SA eventually. My husband and I used to get QB in the US or Paris and decided to try it locally. I also was guilty of being upset with my SA but now all is good.
They are very stressed and the pandemic made it more stressful with the demand soaring like crazy. They do want to make our wishes come true so let's be a bit more supportive!

Nowadays, I dont message my SA, I used to message her a lot. But now no, I just ask if she has a free time and see if I can see some items and buy what is available without putting pressure on her, it works, because after a week or so, I get some proposals of non QB bags and QB bags.

Also to share, I got my first QB (Kelly32) after 6 months on my first year!

Enjoy the journey!
