am considering taking the plunge and getting into the hermes game.. but i wonder how "slowly" can i accumulate my spendings and whether people have seen the spending quota shift significantly during the time they were in the game? i'm not keen to spend for the sake of qualifying for a QB, so i would rather wait for the items i like to be back in stock and purchase when available... but it seems to me that even for the non-bag items, people get ghosted and may not be able to buy in the end? it's scary to enter the game, esp when you're not sure whether you'll really be getting anything out of it! i'm also thinking of pacing myself really slowly... like about $1-2K spending each month max.. but it will take me about 1 year to even reach the minimum spend required, before i can queue for a QB. :(

lastly, HOW DO YOU TELL IF THE SAs ARE GOOD OR NOT? i did walk in before but the SA then although friendly just straight up told me they don't do min. pre-spending so the convo ended as soon as it started. i'm really not sure how people found the good SAs and how can you tell if you vibe with them ornot? I think most of them are quite good at pretending to be nice and friendly =x

Hi ladies, is it just me or do MBS and Taka seem to have a lot of items? Or are they mostly just for display only (including non bag items)? I always walk past the stores but never bother to go in because the queue is hours long :whut: so just curious about this because from what I read on the forum it seems like a lot of items are out of stock

I would hesitate to try to play the game or to even view it as a game. If you start with that mindset, you will always feel like you are losing. The reality of it is that shopping at H should be treated like shopping anywhere else; just go into the stores as often as you feel like to check out stock and purchase as you like. I think an SA would be able to tell if you are buying for the sake of buying rather than enjoying your purchases.

I would say you "vibe" with your SA as long as you get along with them and you enjoy their company and assistance whenever you are in the store to "check" things out. If you have a negative experience while shopping with them, or feel unnecessary pressure to buy, then it is for you to decide whether that's a vibe you want to deal with long term. I personally wouldn't enjoy that as much, so to me, it is just about finding someone that complements your experience while shopping.

The pacing on how you can accumulate the “prespend” required will be based of course on the things you like, luck, availabilty and how often you intend to visit your SA/boutique. Nowadays, SAs no longer have time to update their clients of the stocks due to their hectic schedule so the availability will depend on how often your visit will be. Example, sometimes I spend just 1-2K when I visit, sometimes its 3K and sometimes its 12K because it so happens that most of the items were in stock when I dropped by.

Also, if you are just starting or about to start, it is not advisable to inquire on prespend and birkin/kelly on your first visit. It gives the impression that you are only after a quota bag. Keep in mind that Hermes wants their clientele to love the brand as a whole and not just their bags.

Agree not to mention pre-spend until they mention it or till you have spent above 10k. After the first few K spending along the way can hint that you are looking at B/K/C. I did point to the display bkcs and say I would like one at some point so my sa knew.

I get the feeling they don't want to acknowledge the prespend requirements or the 'game'.

Its not good to mention pre spend at the onset. However, if the SA became evasive when a new customer express the wish to get a quota bag in time to come, it’s better to avoid that SA.

Its not personal, but it’s stressful to the SA at current climate to help customers achieve their pre spend to get a quota bag. And even worse to get a quota bag that the customer wants. Which most likely be what many customer wants.

So unless the SA shows positive vibes on helping out with the journey, just leave it. My 2c

May I know if anyone had requested for a mini E this year and how long did it take before you got your hands on one after being put down on the list for the bag? I haven't been waiting for long but it's been quite discouraging seeing many people reselling their brand new pieces from local boutiques on carousell  Thank you!

I think “good SA” really depends if you have the chemistry with him/her. I’ve personally tried shopping at all 3 stores before landing on my SA. I have friends who recommended their SA to me but there were no sparks.

I hinted to SA on my QB wishlist, mid way to the prespend. When it was time, SA asked for the specs and waiting game starts. There was absolutely no pressure between us. I only buy what I really like, SA has never hint me to buy this or that. I don’t push SA for things and has never compare with whoever have gotten and shared on social media. It takes two hands to clap too.

Good luck with SA search. :)

I’ve been a silent reader…Very recently I was chatting with someone, ex SA who spilled a bit of the beans on the craziness they have to deal with.

Super demanding customers who text every day, even few times a day, reminding them of their wish lists, chiding them for being off on weekends or holidays, tabulating a list of items they purchased that tracks to their Pre spend, questioning the SAs on cheating them with a ‘prespend Amt’ yet not giving them the QBs after hitting the amt and the list goes on…..

This ex SA told me they don’t earn any comm on bags - quota or not, and every request they put in on behalf of the customers may sometimes get them scolded by SM, esp when the ‘purchases’ are not to the criteria (which is ever changing). Though they do want to help the customers fulfill their dreambags, esp good customers who treat them with respect. But its also a toxic work environment, they have super demanding customers, long hours (replying chats after hours), no proper toilet or meal breaks, unsupportive superiors, and best of all, if any customers complain even the least bit, the SAs are the ones who get the brunt of things. I heard one SA who allowed video of an unboxing of a Quota bag was given warning letter.

And they really have super Low levels of inventory, hence they have to pace out the customers’ purchases, if you buy and hit prespend very quickly, but you have to wait 6-9months before getting the bag (for various reasons like specs), nobody would be happy. Hence to pace out appts, purchases and fulfilling of pre-spend is the only way to go….

This kind of toxicity only drives good SAs to go…. Sad but true….

So with this journey, let’s also try to put ourselves in the shoes of the SA. (Ha this post makes me sound like Im an SA writing to defend SAs lol I honestly am not)

I started the journey last yr only, after realising doing it overseas just simply doesn’t cut it, especially when I heard of the global monitoring system which limits your QB to only 1 a yr regardless of where in the world u buy it from…. If that’s the case then might as well buy it here and support SG economy. I met a really nice SA who helped so much in my journey, without which I wouldn’t be able to the get 1st QB. But it takes a lot of patience…..

wishing everyone good luck with their journey!

I heard that there were stern warnings to SAs not to mention pre-spend, not even acknowledge there’s such thing, and just give standard answer of asking customers to just buy what they like…. Otherwise the SAs get reported and lose their job…..
