Super! But actually since I'm fairly sure mine is authentic as well and in impeccable condition and with the tag, it is not necessarily. Though I'm curious of a tag placement. Mine is not in a corner. I'll snap a pic tomorrow.
Do you have any idea of the year it was issued by any chance? thank you ;)

Mine is not at the corner, either. It's sewn like two inches from the lower right corner. It's the folded white tag, so it has two stitches on just one side. It's from the 90's, but I don't remember the exact year.

Dear experts,

I have a small mystery for your consideration =)
A crepe-like scarf with a machine-stitched hem. Do you know if that is "normal"? Is this indeed a crepe scarf like I suspect it to be? And if it is, can someone tell me more about the time period when these scarves were produced and what is the name of the design? Thank you in advance =))

Re Horsie mystery

1. Hermes did do crepe de soie scarves ca 1980 - 1990, some did / did not have machine hems.

I spent a whole 15 seconds looking & failed to find mine, if I have some time & get lucky will report more. I cannot remember the particulars of the hems and caretags .. I dont remember what the fabric weave looks like - the weave in the photo with the Hermes tag is quite distinctive, not like my exemplars ?

2. I Have never seen this type of caretag before. but there are still 25,436 (lol) types of caretags unknown to me , could be a pret a porter tag, I do not known much about those

3. The design .. the horsie - never seen that design before ON A SCARF

Reminds me of 2 things - the current Petit H horsie in pyjamas - sorry no photo - or the current bag charm - Rodeo charm is the name ? In either case, those are recent horsie designs - from the last 5 years , not from the 1980s 1990s

The horsie also reminds me of the naive (in a design sense) elephant done in the Ronde des elephants from 2005, again not a design motif from the 1980s - 1990s - must give credit for the photo it is from Ebay & pandoro

So, sorry I am came up with nada

My newest Mousseline. Sulfures in GM size. Think it is from 2009.
If anyone knows the CW info, that would be amazing!!!

From what I have discovered, this design was originally released in 1979 in 90 silk.
These are "paper -weights"
It was re-released in 2002/2003? in pocket square, 90cm Mousseline, and as Sulfures et Presse-Papiers II (detail) in 90 silk twill.

Any additional info on this would be welcome. I believe the designer is Caty Latham.
I did find a "C", a "SL" and a "B" on the design. Any insight is welcome!!

marietouchet- I am answering from the other thread I accidentally posted in last week over here where it should have been.

Here's the little pocket square I have, and I dug up my jeweler's loupe finally and took a look at the attached ring to answer your question.

No markings anywhere, just a few scratches and what looks like it may be some pitting from casting (if I were to give what I see a name). First pic shows a close up under the loupe and you can see the thread color. Second pic shows the pitting I was seeing under the loupe. This is under 10x magnification.

The thread color is a good match to the silk

Ring looks like solid metal - either brass or yellow gold - Curious

The pits from casting would indicate a cheaper item - brass ?
But the lack of tarnish tends to indicate gold
But it could be a modern piece with an anti tarnish coating of some kind ie the ring is younger than the silk

Hermes would put a hallmark on it, even on so small a piece

Really nice piece scarf & ring

I think it must remain a mystery marietouchet!

Really any casting can get impurities, even platinum, but I don't want to go get it scratch tested to satisfy my curiosities, so the metal will have to remain mysterious for now! :p I should go look at some of my old castings under 10x and see how well I used to do, lol. Casting was a wild and crazy favorite activity when I was in jeweler's school. (We used centrifugal casting, and there were always metal splatters along the walls in the casting area. I always made sure no one else was casting when it was my turn and can safely say hot molten metal was never flung about on my watch.)

I think the ring could be younger than the silk too. I'm just going to keep on enjoying it for now.

Was thinking about the pits ...
Agree any metal can have them but gold gets a top notch finish - at least 3 polish steps - and brass does not get the really awesome finishing work , one could , but it does not pay

Does anyone have the booklets or the info from 2004 and 2010? I have an addiction to La Vie du Grand Nord and have been adding to my collection. I'm just wondering which CWs are original and which re-issues (90 silks). Thanks!

Ps thank you for sharing your treasures and piquing my interest

You're welcome marietouchet! I am drawn to vintage things myself and couldn't resist this one. You are probably right about the metal. But if I had it scratch tested it would tarnish (and worse, be scratched because there's nowhere to hide the test on the ring) so I'm fine with the mystery. :smile1:
