thank you so much seton. i will ask costa on the outside chance that she has heard of or knows this seller. meantime please, what does a chargeant mean for the scarf?

Sorry, the correct spelling is "changeant" and if you do a search you will find many pictures of it. Basically, it's a type of mousseline that is irridescent so that from certain angles and light, it appears to change color. Hermes gold changing to orange red is a popular combination. Pink/red is another. I believe the tonina one is violet changing to blue. You can sort of see it in the main picture in the auction.

Tons of examples in this thread. Go knock yourself out.

comments: I am new to Hermes scarves but this looks exactly like a fake they show in the Hermes scarf guide published on ebay.

emailed the seller, she said she bought it on ebay for $230 and is describing it exactly as it was described when she bought it, which tells me nothing except that she doesn't really know if it's real, either.

Thanks much!!!

Many thanks for confirming my suspicions. As a new collector it really screamed fake to me. I've been reading everything on this blog (and elsewhere) religiously and am educating myself as quickly as I can but didn't want to flat out declare it a fake to the seller unless it was confirmed by an expert. I suggested to the seller it most probably was a fake but I see she hasn't taken it down so I will email her again and see what happens. Thanks again for your assistance.

One thing that irks me about that one .... why a dalamtian ?? isn't Dalmatia on the Adriatic ? LOL why could they not put a nice French bulldog on that scarf ??? like the one on Les Triples

the dalmatian is so non French

If it was a French Bulldog I think I would buy it in a heartbeat- those dogs are so cute! Love their little faces.

Can you please help with this scarf's name? I cannot see a title, other than the botanical names... Thanks!

The title is not on the scarf. It's "Fleurs D'Hellade" (Hellenic flowers) by Niki Goulandris, the famous botanical artist. Her signature should be on the scarf. It's from Fall 1992 collection.

hi friponne! i recently bought this same scarf (colorway slightly different -- for ex, the border is red/blue/white) and you'll find the artist's signature on the side. isn't it a lovely scarf? i went ahead then and bought a book of her botanical prints to give my mom as a b'day present, Wild Flowers of Greece -- my parents lived in Athens in the 50's. I'd thought to give her the scarf to go with it, but just couldn't part with it (greedy little b****** that I am)

Just a follow up - the seller removed the scarf from eBay. Good for her, nice to know some sellers want to do the right thing.
well that's seeing the glass half-full, dear jazzblues. as i understand it, sellers risk their ability to sell on eBay when listing counterfeit ( a different kind of "ban" than the one all us buyers put ourselves on!)
of course i don't know the details of this one so i'm not trying to smear anyone -- in case seller was in fact ignorant of the fact the item wasn't authentic when listing originally.

looks okay. Never had any business with the seller and none of my friends have ever bought from them either so nothing to report there.

Have u ever bought from an Italian seller before? Some people have loads of trouble with the Italian PO.

Also, even tho the seller doesnt say so, I believe this MIGHT BE a chargeant mousseline.

I don't understand what kind of problems did people have with the italians. What is PO?
