Hi, I'm D*****, the one you can blame for the HSCI Photo Catalogue & one of the owners/managers of HSCI - photos are hosted on Piwigo, so that itself may resolve some confusion. You may call me yplady or Denise <g>. I went through & cannot find any reference to Cavaliers D'Or in my catalogue other than the 1975 first issue, so if you see something, say something. I DID find a couple of photos with Henri D'Origny as the artist, so I've corrected those. However, is it singular or plural????

I've always made a point to graciously accept photo donations & information due to the somewhat hazy Hermès data available, having received conflicting information from H myself. What I DON'T do is make up info or poach photos without permission. Over the past 13 years, I have spent literally thousands of dollars on this website (with some occasional donations) as it's my hobby. Granted, it needs updating!

Sure, I love bags, too, but my scarf collection came first and as much as I say I don't need another, there is usually something tempting. It's a good thing I live in the boondocks!

I don't visit here that often, but feel free to contact me if you would like me to add your own photos to the catalogue. The website is strictly educational and informational; there are plenty of other reliable resellers here to provide purchasing services. Besides, Hermès would shut me down in a New York minute if they didn't believe it was educational, since I have the URL www.hermesscarf.com registered to me. And please, if you find an error or can provide any assistance, let me know!

Thanks.

D, I know that I am not the only one who sends you many thanks and good wishes every time that I look at the fabulous resource that you have spent so much time (and $) putting together and graciously allow one and all to use. Much appreciated!!

D,
I've cybernetically known you for a couple of decades now. Though not lately, I have contributed many pictures to your catalogue. I have witnessed the incredible amount of hours, frustrations, and money you have spent keeping your website active and accurate as best as you can. As you said, it is well known not even Hermès gets it right sometimes. Humans make mistakes. You are not a dictator. You are always open to suggestions and always welcome anyone to correct any errors found. There is people all over the world using your catalogue, FOR FREE. I wouldn't be surprised if Hermès themselves casually browse it
Anyways, THANK YOU for your hard work and your generosity.
Yours is a labor of pure love.

Hello everyone.
I need help with this scarf. It’s missing the tag so now I’m not sure if it is authentic or not. It’s a Ledoux scarf from the 70s. Please help
Thank you

Do you have a mystery Hermes scarf that needs to be identified?
Need to know the date of your Hermes scarf?
Is something bothering you about a scarf that you own that you want answered?

Post your questions here. Preferably with pictures for enlightenment.

This thread was opened for easy access to newbies, making it easier for the scarf experts to keep track of questions asked, and hopefully, lessening the clutter for people who want to discuss bags only since this is called The PURSE Forum.

Please be aware that a lot of your questions can be answered if you know the name of your Hermes scarf. Approximately 75% of Hermes scarves have the title somewhere on the scarf. Usually in the middle: middle top, center of the scarf, or middle of the bottom. If your scarf has a lot of writing on it, the title is usually the phrase in the LARGEST font.

Try to type keywords of the title into one of two databases on the internet:

LUXURY-SCARVES.COM
Hermes Scarf Collectors International

Oh honey - THANK YOU!!!
I check your site first, I've spent hours browsing it - it's like a marvelous playground.

To those who posted (and those who use telepathy), thanks for your support - the kind words are very appreciated. I promise I will add some more photos when I get back from a 2 week trip to France. Hopefully, I will come back as a homeowner! Actually, the studio apartment is the size of a deluxe hotel bedroom. <g> But it does have the advantage of being 80 feet from the Monaco border, a nice view of the palais and a shared rooftop pool! Needless to say, I'm on scarf ban for a while...but I have permission to post some real oldies but goodies & I will get to work adding those to the catalogue as soon as I return.

Hi all! I was just over in the SOTD thread where Xincinsin brought up the variety of SE/LE scarves. Can someone kindly explain to me the difference between all the special/limited/etc edition scarves that H makes? I am finding so many more of these scarves! They seem to be for charities, associations, corporations and then some that H does themselves? Am I right? I am now super confused trying to understand these "special edition" scarves. Any information would be appreciated greatly!:flowers:

I don't know if there's more to it but I've always thought special editions are simply issued for special occasions (anniversaries, fundraising, openings of new H stores, re-openings ...). No real rhyme or reason beside, well, specialness.

These scarves are limited in number (don't think they are numbered though), aren't widely available, and can only be purchased at certain stores.

Sometimes these special editions are just a new colourway/size/material of an already existing design, other times the design is also new.

There's also a thread dedicated to these scarves -- take a look here.

It's wonderful eye candy. My HG wishlist skyrocketed after looking at it.
My two cents' worth since it was my comment that got @Julide confused. I had to make a decision about how to categorize my scarves when I tried to do an Excel list. I classified Promenade à Versailles as a special edition because it was issued for a specific event and the quantity produced was unknown but tied to the number of pre-orders. I classified the Queen E 90th Birthday Tatersale as a limited edition because only 300 were produced. So my defining factor was quantity. For my cataloguing purposes, all limited editions are special editions, but not all special editions are limited editions.

I am new a collecting scarves so I am easily confused Xincinsin! Sorry:blushing:It makes sense I never thought about quantity produced. Between specific designs, quantity and special colours I just cant imagine the combinations that are out there! And I like the way you have categorized your scarves!:flowers:

Thank you all for helping an old timer decode the scarf information! It is appreciated!!:flowers:
