Found a photo of a pointu but can't figure out how they tied it.

Me neither! I am confused by them also using the word papillon. There are three different references on the page - carré, pointu and papillon. Perhaps a clearer image of the page and a search for the accompanying reference could tell us if, indeed, a bow tie is also being used somewhere to bring it all together.
OT, I love the top!

I feel like I'm back in uni "deconstructing" a novel :smartass:
If we figure this out, I want to do this knot. Looks very preppy.

I think a papillon is tied around the neck, and a pointu around the body? Although I have yet to figure out why one white border (on the right breast) is narrower than the (equally broad) white borders on the provided photo of a pointu.

(Riddles never fail to lure me out of my lurking ... Hello!)

A papillon would normally refer to a bow tie, I think, and I always assumed pointus were worn cowboy style around the neck. I have seen maxi-twillies around bodies (a look I love but could never emulate thanks to middle age reducing my waist!) But I don't think I have seen pointus around the body....but I may well be wrong!
The puzzle deepens......[emoji16]
And HELLO!! [emoji847]

Except, here is the pointu: https://www.ebay.com/itm/MNT-Auth-H...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
Which I would have bought if it tied the way shown in the booklet (BBC the booklet page is shown in my post #2014). I have NO IDEA why I am so obsessed with this, but I am SURE you all understand, lol!
Jahna, please could you post closer-up images of each page? I don't have the booklet. Or if you search on the all-en site for the references quoted it might cast some light!

Here's as far as I got with the pointu in PS (not very far, :panic:):

Hi! I found this at the goodwill outlet of all places. I’m not familiar with Hermès scarves. Handbags are my thing. This looks authentic to me, size, edges and tags look to be correct. I’ve researched what I could but I don’t see this colorway mentioned online, nor do I see the artists name on the scarf. Is this the 1971 Cathy Latham scarf I have? Was is made in pink/ red and is it real?

Thank you so much in advance!

IDK I’m starting to think some scissors and thread were involved here.....[emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]
Me too. I just came in to work and this puzzle was in my dreams :cray: I also spent the commute googling to see if "papillon" was the name of a knot or some sort of Hermes ascot.

Ok, assuming that there was no sewing, then I'm thinking there were 2 pointus used for the top. What do you think?
I tried to match it to the bits of the design that we can see in the photo. Folding the white borders under would address the uneven expanses of white that @gga+ pointed out.

SCISSORS!!! YIKES!! :panic::panic::panic: Well, I am glad everyone is having fun with this... I am almost certain two scarves are involved and we need an origami expert. I am off to bed; perhaps the tooth fairy will give me a clue.
