Good evening,

this is my first post here as I was a silent reade the last few days.

I enjoyed your pictures so much but I have a question, perhaps one of you could help me:

I saw that shawl (? or is it a carree; I don't know?) in the Internet and was told this is a hermes shawl- I would love to buy but am not lucky finding it on hermes.com.

So would you please be so kind to help me figuring out which shawl this is?

In case it is not from Hermes please simply delete my post.

TIA!

lovelou

Hi ladies

Sorry if I ask at wrong thread. I saw a scarf (neutral/taupe scarf near a vinyl record at the bottom right corner" from a photo taken by Hanna Flaneur from " Hermes Windows Around the World MASTER THREAD!!!". I really like this design. Do you know its name and if this scarf is a part of this S/S 16 collection? Many thanks for your comments in advance.

The good news is that the design is Jardin d'Osier and it's still available.

The bad news is that it is a blanket and was never a scarf.

You can find it here, naturel colourway.

Thank you for your comment, Seton:tup::tup::tup::tup:.... Too bad that this design is only available in blanket .. I would run to my local boutique if it is available in scarf version, either 90 cms or 140 cms:p

The pattern appears to be Qu'Import le Flacon. However, not sure that it was originally sold this way by Hermes. It appears to be a craft project that someone created with two H scarves of the same print. It looks as if someone cut two scarves on the bias and sewed them together to make this sort of "aftermarket twilly".
As a quilter I completely agree with your assessment. That's top stitching around the edge that is used as a finishing step when two pieces are sewn together with right sides facing. You sew most of the way around the edges and leave a hole for turning right side out. After flipping through the hole, the hole is closed and the entire edge neatened with the top stitch, which also flattens the interior selvages. Not a bad way to use a very damaged scarf and this one is neatly done, but not official in any way.

Thank you so much for the information. This explains the unusual shape. It was so difficult to identify this scarf due to the shape and the fact that there are two Hermes logos on each end. If they used two scarves, that would explain it. Brilliant! Thank you again so much.

Hi!

I received - as gift from my aunt - a vintage Scheherazade GM scarf (100% silk). My aunt has been buying scarves (Hermes and others) for years, but never as a real expert or collector. I have no reasons to doubt the authenticity of this scarf, but I was surprised by the weight and texture of this shawl.

I am not familiar with the older silk GMs.I have seen the "standard twill" GMs, the summer twill GMs, and the mousselines. The material of this shawl is less "smooth" than the summer twill (almost like silk crepe) and somehow a little heavier, but not as much as the normal twill.

Is that normal? I know she washes her silks and does not iron them, so I wonder if the slightlier "rough" texture is due to that.

Any insight on these beautiful vintage scarves is appreciated.
Thanks!

It actually IS silk crepe, not silk twill. Hermes stopped making GMs in silk crepe a long time ago but Sheherazade was one of the designs they did that in.
