Hi Purse FanGirl, Yes, that CW is definitely bright! I just went to look at it again, and it really is a fun scarf. I believe yours is CW11...
Yes cw11 is a BRIGHT - forgot about that one - it is so hard any more to know ALL the cws of a design unless you are a specialist, adoring a particular design and pumping your SA to know about the cws that are not sold in your store

Speaking of subdued colors, I fell in love with this CW of "Danses des Indiens". It looks almost black and white, but has wonderful tones of grey-blue, tan, and a wonderful green, which is not "washed out", but looks happy in its own skin.

(I bought it from Jan). The background is actually white. I will post my pictures this weekend.
These almost black and white scarves are really splendid, I think. One of H's strong points. Like the neutral Mythique Phoenix. And the neutral Femme aux Semelles de Vent. Black and white and all these amazing greys and tans and blue-greys that lend so much richness and texture. Your Danses is really gorgeous!

And what you say about black. What's up with that? No more true black. Although I do love that dark navy / near black. But I treasure my older scarves that are really black!
Well, it would be incorrect to say that I am 100 percent that noir is gone, too many scarves to keep track of , but, I did notice many laminated tags here have noir and blue noir as the only two colors legible on the tags with the ginormous scan box

Amazing difference in palettes! I have not done nearly the extensive research to compare across decades like you have MT; some of the old CWs do surprise me though. I just got out La Provence and looked at it clearly for the first time in a long time. Very rich colors.

To nit pick, this is the early 1950s version with the word PROVINCIA , not the 1980s version without the Latin name , different palettes in the 1950s and 1980s
There was a lot of dish watery colors in the 1950s , pale blue, beige, sage kind of stuff, but once in a while there would be a real wacky bright one , my PROVINCIA is fuchsia ! And I have a QUAI AIX FLEURS , the ultimate grandmotherly beigy design with a black field and bright reds, greens and cobalts , again an anomaly for the times
I guess , if I have to describe the theme of my collection it would be that I go for oddball cws eg the anomalous bright 1950s ones or the monochrome versions of AUBE , which otherwise came in some very kooky mixed cws, I am like the only person on the planet to have ZABAVUSHKA in the green cw

Got to thinking more about noir being a bit MIA ....
Well, heck other colors are HTF these days ....
Thinking the CSGMs which now seem to have a lot of NATUREL, GRIS CHINÉ backgrounds no more straight uniform white or gray, the new colors are heathery beige and heathery grey (due to no longer bleaching the cashmere as much to get a more uniform color ?)

Hi momasaurus, scarf1, thanks for joining us here!

RE: Provence MT, I thought mine was the later issue, the first only having the Hermès at the bottom... HSCI has it that way. In any case it is a stunning CW!

momasaurus, I love that "Sports d'Hiver". I lusted after another CW when it came out and did not buy it then, I may have to re-think that with "evilbaby" (great name).

I was blown away by litchi's post of her Samourais (not one of my favorites until I saw hers: (credit litchi)

Of course I am totally enamored of the yellow/gray combination at the moment, and this is so...shimmery (I think that is the word litchi used). Does anyone have the names of the colors in this scarf?

I am also smitten with the colors in this scarf (on ebay now for... uh...$999.00). So I will just enjoy the colors.

the mauve, pink and minty-green play off so well with the browns and tans. Would love to see it IRL.

Have no idea why I had this in the same folder, but these shoes are very cool! If you have the limo to pick you up (as my erudite gay friend pointed out when I was be-moaning the fact I can no longer walk in heels):

I’ve never seen this zavbruska you have but is it bright?

I “visit” this one frequently on eBay. I wonder about the mint green. Seems so strange ( for me:P ) on such a lovely neutral. I suspect that it is fabulous IRL
