I buy a fair amount of Hermes RTW in store. Coats, jackets and dresses will usually come on a hanger and in a garment bag. I think my cashmere sweaters were in orange boxes. But I recently went in store and bought a leather RTW item and my SA told me she would ship to me rather than give it to me in store. They had no garment bags and she didn’t want to just wrap it in tissue paper and put it in a bag. They shipped it in a brown box, with paper stuffing, on a hanger in a plastic (dry cleaner type) cover. A few weeks prior, she wrapped a cashmere sweater in tissue paper only. I don’t much care for packaging unless it’s a gift for someone else, so it’s less clutter that I need to deal with.

! So it may not have been a manufacturing flaw (so were made as specified), but that doesn't mean it's an ideal design detail!
