I was so happy when the Calya Clogs appeared again! I'm a US size 8, so I ordered size 38 and 39. In bare feet the 38 felt a tiny bit short, and the 39 are a tiny bit long. As I also want to be able to wear these with socks, I kept the 39.

They are made without a rubber sole at the front (so very slippery) and only a thin one at the heel. I asked my cobbler to add a rubber sole to the front, and to replace the thin rubber one at the heel with a more substantial piece. He did such a nice job for me, very pleased!

Before - as received

Gosh, your cobbler really did a nice job! I just received mine this weekend and am still on the fence as to if I will keep them or not. Part of my hesitation is concern for how slippery the sole is and how the sole will wear over time. Unfortunately I have yet to find a cobbler in my city that I would trust with these, but if I send them off to Leather Spa or somewhere similar I'm afraid we'll be half way through fall by the time I get them back. Decisions, decisions (but certainly of the first-world problem type, which I fully recognize I'm very fortunate to have)!

Thank you! And, yes, I was afraid I'd likely slip on our carpeted stairs on my very first outing! :oh: I also thought the soles would quickly wear. But, I was determined to keep them as they're otherwise beautifully made! When I brought them to my cobbler, he made suggestions and showed me the materials he'd use. It's just the kind of work cobblers routinely do, so I felt very comfortable having him do this. But, others here seem to feel fine wearing theirs as received, so maybe unnecessary. I just thought the work would lengthen their lifespan. And, the new, thicker rubber soles can be easily replaced later as needed, before I wear into the wooden bottom. I hope you can keep yours (altered or unaltered), good luck! :flowers:

Sorry if this thread already exists but I'm looking to buy a new pair of oran sandals (already own a pair in gold and one in balck/rosegold) and was thinking about going to exotic route. I would like to purchase them in either alligator skin or ostrich leather abd would live to hear your opinion if you own them or know someone who does. Are they comfortable? How is the wear and tear? Or do you even regret buying them in the first place?
TIA!

did you ever end up buying the exotic Orans? Curious about them too :)

I was told in store that they will send it to Paris for cobbler services when I bought a pair of shoes recently. Maybe it depends on the country? The cobbler services here are not always great, so I'm actually happy that they can do it "in house", I wish I could send louboutins to Paris with the H! :D Because of travel restrictions, I have a bunch of shoes laying around in dire need of first aid! :panic:

Interesting to know, and I did wonder if the craftsperson at my store could have also done this. But, am glad to be able support my local cobbler right now, as he does such nice work, and so many small businesses are still struggling. Hoping your shoes in need can receive some TLC soon! :flowers:
