Dear all,

I am right search for box calf bag- and found a vintage bolide from the 90s that I like and that in general is in good shape, no demand for major work done.

BUT (there is always a but, right?) - the corners have been painted and I strongly suspect not by Hermes. See picture attached. Do you think that H would still accept it for spa? No work seems to done on stiching etc. .

This is really sad, as I otherwise truly like the bag.

this is not a direct answer to your question
the only 100% reliable answer would come from Hermes
BUT this might be better advice

ask the seller outright about the 'painting'
then you have redress if the seller was not truthful

regardless,
if the 'workmanship' is such that you are questioning it,
walk away; there will be others

Thank you so much - this was just what I wanted /needed to hear … it is already on its way back. I think it is also a matter on working only with people /resellers that are working transparently and honestly.

I do not want to give them my business otherwise.

I just received my bag back from Paris for cleaning and repairs. I dropped it off on January 20th; I received estimates on March 21st; it was returned on August 24th.

On the estimate (from March 21st), the estimated lead-time was 20 weeks. It actually took 22 weeks.

We were pleased to return your SAC KELLY II RETOURNE 32 VEAU COURCHEVEL.

Hi all,

Sorry if this is a question that’s been asked before, but I was wondering if what appears to be small cracks on the edge of sangles like this is normal for a gold Togo birkin? Bag is from the boutique and a little less than a year old.. but i haven’t used it in the last 6 months and just noticed this when I took it out. I have not seen this on my other Togo Bs so was a bit concerned… if not normal, is it something they can fix in store?

Wanted to check with you all before I dragged it back into the store to see an artisan. Thank you in advance for any info you may be able to share!

I am always in favour of returning to Hermes to seek expert opinion. However I am sure they will be able to reassure you that this part of the grain of the leather and convince you that this is quite normal and will not lead to further splitting.

Any Hermes bag spa experts here? Spotted this Kelly on vestiare collective for a steal but noted that there are some scuffing/rubbing on one part of the handles as pictured. Do you think this is something that the bag spa can easily fixed? Or would it need a complete handle replacement?IMG_5366.jpeg

It depends on just how much of a steal?
Could you live with it?
It does not appear to be a simple spa job.
I Hermes would allow its artisans to do a cosmetic camouflage.
A replacement handle will be 1000+ (choose your currency)
as you can see from the posts where members have kindly shared their costs.

Ahh I see. I think I can definitely put a twilly over the handles but definitely will be bringing the bag in to the Hermes spa for a refresh if I were to buy it. Just wondering if they could just paint over it or something or a handle replacement is required for such a fix (understand that will be costly).
As for price, It’s going for 5.1k USD. It’s a k35 in tadelakt leather rubis-rose tyrien combo.

The Kelly Éclat aka So Flash!
That's a hard fix on Tadelakt. Spa can polish over it but the polish will wear off. Given that the handle on an Éclat is quite special (contrast underside), the replacement may be a bit difficult as well.
I would only buy that bag if you can live with that scuff. JMHO.

Ahhh thanks for the tip and advice. I’ll think about it again before pulling the trigger. Pity about the bag tho :/
