I'm sure that the dye must darken with age however I remember stalking new bags and SLG in Raisin and Rouge H many years ago and loving the colour (Raisin especially as I remember it was very deep and saturated and more blue than brown). That is a beautiful classic with many desirable attributes.
On the general topic of preference for some vintage examples if colours like raisn and rouge h,
I wonder if there is something in the dye that matures with age and exposure to light and air?
Just a thought.
When I was going through the leather samples at my H store about a year ago I asked to see the raisin and rouge H samples (this was for a wishlist request) and I was so disappointed with the hue of both.
Maybe the chemicals used in the dyes have evolved over the years (I think I first became aware of Raisin in the late 90's) and this has affected the hue?
I wish someone had a definitive answer as to why in my opinion these two classic colours are now somehow muddied
