I'm sure that the dye must darken with age however I remember stalking new bags and SLG in Raisin and Rouge H many years ago and loving the colour (Raisin especially as I remember it was very deep and saturated and more blue than brown).
When I was going through the leather samples at my H store about a year ago I asked to see the raisin and rouge H samples (this was for a wishlist request) and I was so disappointed with the hue of both.
Maybe the chemicals used in the dyes have evolved over the years (I think I first became aware of Raisin in the late 90's) and this has affected the hue?
I wish someone had a definitive answer as to why in my opinion these two classic colours are now somehow muddied

You have such a gorgeous bag! Raisin in box is gorgeous! I have recently had the opportunity to purchase a raisin B35 from 2002 with PHW. I was wondering if you use an insert for this in order to maintain its shape through the years. Do you do regular maintenance like conditioning to keep the box leather shiny like that? Thank you in advance!

I use Saphir or Meltonian cream lotion on all my leather bags. I don't use an insert as I never overload my bags. I find using an insert just makes them heavier.
