fansynancy said:I am wondering what constitutes a phone order and exactly what the new policy is. I live over an hour from my H boutique and I conduct a lot of business over the phone, though I do occasionally see my SA in person. I just received a bag in the mail yesterday. I last spoke with her Saturday and she didn't say a word.
You can request items over the phone and they would hold it for you, but you will have to go into the store and pay for it in person. No more paying over the phone, faxing, etc.
They had a corporate conference meeting this past Tuesday to officially confirm this.
I know.. It's such a hassle now! Before, i could just call up my SA and have her find the items I want, and she would charge my card and ship the items to me. I didn't even have to leave home!! I don't understand how this policy is supposed to enhance the 'Hermes experience'...
It is indeed stressful .. It doesn't make me feel like they appreciate our business.. Like we have to follow all these rules so that we can buy from them... Shouldn't they be the ones who cater to our needs ??!!
it is my understanding that when you take a phone order, credit card companies charge a higher fee to the merchant as opposed to when you actually swipe a card in a machine...could it be something as simple as that?!?
hypothetically on a $5000 order if a CC fee was 2% in person vs 3% on phone order, it would mean a difference of $50 that a merchant has to pay in CC fees.....
and then add in the extra security of an in store purchase........
just my random thought for the day!
New wrinkle: Phone orders under $1k and if it's not SLG. Just tested it and it worked.
Any more wrinkles??
I was told that the reason for this new policy is to protect long-standing and good local customers of the local boutique. It appears that with phone orders, merchandise earmarked for that particular store fly off the virtual shelves everywhere else across the country and internationally, so local customers are disadvantaged. That's the official line anyway.
