Hermes Phone Orders

My SO just came in and my SA called me today and I told her to just swipe my card first because I want to pay for it first to make sure I get it, then I will pick it up this weekend, my SA told me that she can't run my credit card, I HAVE TO go in in person and pay for it!!
She then told me about no more phone order and 1 birkin / 1 Kelly policy, which my SO will count as 1 of the bags I can get per year.......

^ Which state is your store located in?

This new policy is really ticking me off! It penalizes those who are 'geographically-challenged' or who are too busy with work / life to visit the boutiques in person.

Houston told me today that they can no longer take phone orders for any LEATHER item (bags, belts, bracelets, whatever)...not sure if clic clacs, enamels, gold, etc is ok?? :p

The SA actually looked me up in the system and even commented "Wow, you've bought quite a lot from Hermes". Yet after checking with her manager, it didn't seem to matter! It's getting insane. I'm sure all big companies have to deal with CC fraud...not everyone demands coming in person for each and every purchase, especially if you're an established client. If my regular SAs have to start enforcing this, I guess it's the end of Hermes for me. My closest boutique is 2 hours away! Not worth the drive to see empty shelves.

So sad to hear this !! I wonder if it is really about CC fraud or they just don't want people beating the system and is forced to work with your local boutique. I feel for those that don't have one near by.

Some of their policies are getting ridiculous.

Southern CA! Both SCP and BH are reinforcing the policy. I have talked to both stores and confirmed by 2 different SAs!

You ladies want to hear the definition of heartbreak?

Friday morning I get the call from a Hermes SA that the CDC I've waited for and dreamed of having for nearly a year is finally going to be mine!! The fuchsia gator with GHW!!!! I was literally jumping up and down with joy!!! So I'm giving her all my info, and then she says, "Wait, you're in South Carolina, right?" I said yes...and she then informed me that she was sorry, but she couldn't sell it to me because I wasn't local!!!!! WTF??? She said it was the new policy, and regardless of what you've bought or where, that there are no more phone orders.

Why in the world would you call someone and offer something they wanted so badly, only to take it away like that? I was so heartbroken I cried. I'm still sad. :(

I was told the same thing today when I stopped by. No more phone orders. You have to be physically present to buy. I feel bad for those who do not have boutiques nearby.

^ Will the boutiques at least give customers a day or two to get themselves to the boutique to purchase the item?

Will they still call customers who are on a wait list? Or will they only sell to lucky walk-ins?

It depends on your relationship with your SA. They do not usually discuss inventory over the phone unless it is a specific order that you have requested.

Ebay resellers are going to hike their prices with this new H policy...watch for the increases....this really ticks me off! There are a couple of ways I see around this. Have a friend or relative, if you have one, pick up what you want in their local boutique and ship it to you. Or, go into your local boutique. If they don't have what you want, they will do a search and if they find the item, it is still their policy to do a charge/send, as long as you pay for the item at the boutique. I did this today at BH as a test. What a drag!

I am pretty sure that your SA can hold the items for you! You just need to go in and pay for it!
They will still call people on the waiting list!

My understanding is that this new policy was laid out in an Hermes conference call yesterday.

Totally ridiculous !! Forget about excuses of cc fraud. It is all BS since the incidence of that happening is small. I think this is done to protect their store inventory since supply has been limited and they didn't want empty shelves. It is not our fault that they can't replenish fast enough. Customers, especially long time customers who do not have a store close to them should not be subject to such rules.

^ Thank you for the info! That's good to know! Buying has become such a stressful, complicated process now. Very frustrating!

I know.. It's such a hassle now! Before, i could just call up my SA and have her find the items I want, and she would charge my card and ship the items to me. I didn't even have to leave home!! I don't understand how this policy is supposed to enhance the 'Hermes experience'...
It is indeed stressful .. It doesn't make me feel like they appreciate our business.. Like we have to follow all these rules so that we can buy from them... Shouldn't they be the ones who cater to our needs ??!!

Some SAs are very lazy to look for inventory in their system. I know one and she complains every time if I ask her to look for something since their store is small and does not have the quota to order more. She just wants an easy sell and expect her customers to take whatever their store has.
